How to fall in love with sport?

Good morning!

There is no need to say that exercising is good for your health. Nevertheless, this often does not make it easier to like sport and force yourself to start getting fit just now. Let's discuss how to make this process easier, or to even fall in love with exercising.

1. BENEFITS OF SPORT

We're sure you know all of them, but remembering the major benefits of exercising will definitely keep you a bit more motivated to make the first move:

  • significantly improves your mood;
  • help you show better academic results;
  • reduces stress and helps prevent depression;
  • it teaches teamwork and problem-solving skills;
  • boosts self-esteem;
  • improves your concentration;
  • help you stay fit and healthy, of course;
  • improves sleeping habits, etc.

2. HOW TO START

As the benefits of doing sports are obvious, there is still a question left unanswered – how to finally start exercising? The common answer between psychologists is: you must at least like what you do. First of all, you should find the type of sport that suits your personality and body best. Some like dancing, swimming, cycling, walking or bodybuilding in gym; others prefer team sports, such as basketball, football etc. If you don't know it immediately, try different types of sports to find the one that will make you happy and motivated.

There is more useful advice that will help you keep up a healthy exercising schedule:

  • Make sports your top priority. If you'll tell yourself that exercising is high priority it will be difficult to move it to next Monday or even next month.
  • Find some company. It is always easier to do it with a friend or relative. In this case you both are motivating each other, and if one decides to pass a workout, another won't allow it.
  • Measure it. The best motivator of all time is a visible progress. The fact is that your body lines won't change as fast as you'd want (and this would not be healthy, as well). Therefore, you should measure or take pictures of yourself before you start exercising and do check-ups every two weeks. The dynamics of your body will help you fall in love with sports even more.

The best thing about forcing yourself to exercise is that it won't take long. Scientists have proven that it takes approximately 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic – and this is wonderful news for anyone who is searching for a way to become fit. Try to keep up for at least 60 days not quitting it, and we guarantee – you'll start loving it!
