Although tea is very beneficial to health, there are things to consider before you drink tea. One of them is when you should drink tea. Recently it is known that drinking tea after a meal risks interfering with the digestion and absorption of nutrients in your body.
A study published in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry found that the acid content of tannin and polyphenols in tea could interfere with the absorption of protein and iron. The reason, tannin acid and polyphenols will bind these two nutrients in the intestine.
As a result the body will not be able to absorb and break down these substances. In fact, you need protein and iron to perform various body functions. Usefulness among others is to form tissues and body cells, increase endurance, provide energy sources, and produce oxygen-rich blood.
