Why it is a winner: you'll be able to walk anyplace, anytime. Use a treadmill or hit the streets.

How to: If you are simply getting down to walk for fitness, begin with 5 to ten minutes at a time. Add a couple of minutes to every walk till you get to a minimum of half-hour per walk. Then, quicken your pace or add hills.

I think taking street to walk is far more better than taking a treadmill. The reason being you will have the surrounding and free air and atmosphere along with you where as in case of treadmill it is more like a synthetic task. However walking is very very good for our health.
