Stay Away From Your Coconut

It is mind-boggling to be told that coconut is health food. This is a dangerous trend that needs a 2nd look.

In the recent years, people have been promoting using coconut oil for weight loss and as an overall health tonic.

Here is the hard fact:

Coconut oil is packed with dangerous level of saturated fat.

It is true that the argument goes on in opposite sides: “Saturated fat is the cause of heart disease” and “saturated fat isn’t the cause of heart disease.”

However, as of now, American Heart Association still keeps its guidelines to state that taking in much saturated fat could raise the person’s chances of getting a heart disease.

We also get support like this:

“Countless studies show that if you replace saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat, you do get a reduction in heart disease risk,” says Alice Lichtenstein, professor of nutrition science and policy at Tufts University in Boston.

And this:

"Too much saturated fat in the diet is unhealthy because it raises " bad" LDL cholestrol levels, which increase the risk of heart disease. So, it would seem that coconut oil would be bad news for our hearts," says Walter C. Willet, M.D., a renowned Harvard researcher.

Before science can give us a clearer, more concise conclusion about saturated fat, using coconut oil DAILY is not a wise thing to do.
