For most of my friends, it is evident that I really love sea food, and aside from crabs, shrimps are my favorites too. I love shrimps that are sauteed, buttered, garlicky, baked, broiled and however these crustaceans are prepared.
I read an article about some things that we should know about shrimps. According to this source, shrimps are a good source of protein in addition to their water content. Besides that, they provide several nutrients such as selenium, vitamin B12, phosphorus, copper and of course, iodine. Shrimps also contain antioxidants which help fights free radicals that damage cell membranes and DNA resulting to premature aging and disease.
Shrimps are low in calories, but they are high in cholesterol. So, make sure to consult your doctor on the proper intake, and follow your doctor's advice on dietary cholesterol.
Just like any other food that needs to be consumed in moderation, take into consideration your shrimp diet. It doesn't hurt to know the advantages and disadvantages that these food may provide. Always remember that anything in excess is still not good.
