Dryness in the throat is an bothersome symptom that can appear during cold times of the year, or be caused by irritations originated by infections or allergies. Accompanied by a cough, in addition to burning, difficulty to swallow food and changes in the tone of your voice.
Although usually occurs sporadically and mildly, it's always advisable to give some type of treatment to prevent other complications. Fortunately, in addition to remedies easily found in pharmacies, there are solutions of natural origin whose properties moisturise and deflate the area to reduce discomfort.
In the following lines I want to share in detail some ways that you could use to get rid of this problem.
Oregano & Propolis
The antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties of this natural remedy offer us many benefits in relief of an irritated throat.
This mix of oregano and propolis reduce bacterial growth and create a protective layer against irritation and infection. The recipe goes as follow:
- One cup of water (250 ml)
- One teaspoon of oregano (5 g)
- A half teaspoon of propolis (2 g)
- The preparation:
- Add the oregano in a cup of boiling water and, after allowing it to stand for 10 minutes, incorporate the propolis.
- Mode of consumption:
- Drink the infusion couple times a day to soothe dryness.
Honey & Lemon
Consuming a tablespoon of honey can help to lubricate your throat; however it's also advisable to brew it with a bit of lemon juice to enhance its antibiotic effects.
- The ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of honey (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (20 ml)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
- The preparation:
- Pour the honey and lemon juice in a cup of warm water and mix them to dilute the brew.
- Mode of consumption:
- Drink the infusion a couple times a day, for about 3 to 4 days.
Chamomile & Honey
Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory and can be made into a refreshing drink that can reduce dryness and itching in the throat area, it is also used to reduce stomach pain caused by irritation.
- The ingredients:
- One tablespoon of chamomile flowers (10 g)
- One cup of water (250 ml)
- One tablespoon of honey (25 g)
- The preparation:
- Add the chamomile flowers in a cup of boiling water and let it cool either to room temperature or just warm, pour through a strainer and sweeten it with honey.
- Mode of consumption:
- Drink the infusion up to three times a day.
