Taste the forests and meadows: Edible weeds and wild flowers

in health •  7 years ago  (edited)

Civilized people are supplied with food mainly by grocery shops and supermarkets. That "food" is made in a large scale with very few vitamins and minerals but many pesticides and additives, preservatives which causes chronic illnesses like allergy, addiction, metabolic deseases, overweight, celiac disease, cardio-vascular deseases, cancer, etc. In better cases, more conscious people buy their veggies, egg and meat at local markets. What would be the best? Of course, homesteading, but not everyone has the opportunity to do so. But everyone can go out to nature. If your answer is: "I do not have time for it" or "i have to walk too much", i consider it as an excuse. The least you can do for your health is to turn off your computer or TV and go out for a walk. If you are far enough from the roads, you can find some edible plants. Here are some examples:

Young sprouts of wild hop - just chew it:

Elder flowers. You can make wonderful drink of it, or put it in pancake:

Beautiful. I posted some days ago about wild garlic, great for garnish too. I stumbled upon a field on them, must forage

I have developed a new love for foraging and wildcrafting... I have found so many edibles on our property

Nice post @kalemandra. It's kind of strange how hesitant many people are about collecting herbs, fruit and vegetables in their natural environment. Sure, you need to be absolutely sure certain mushrooms are edible, but you can't go wrong with (starters tip:) chamomile 'from the wild' to lighten up your hair.
