Health Coaching is a relatively new industry that combines nutrition and wellness advice with counseling, and purports to offer the answers to every known problem.
The industry is fed mostly by its education arm, which churns out thousands of new coaches each year. It lures people in with the promise of a short learning curve, a relatively small investment (compared to traditional colleges), and a lucrative career.
With such attractive promises, zero prerequisites, and feel-good ego-stroking "I know a secret" subject matter, the movement has attracted tens of thousands of (mostly) women who are dissatisfied with their lives or careers and are thus easily wooed by the movement's masterful propagandists who deeply understand this pain and how to capitalize on it.
Most coaches have, knowingly or unknowingly, learned and been seduced by NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) — the practice of utilizing the power of words to alter understandings and shape behaviors — which takes its origins from Ericksonian hypnosis.
In fact, from the moment you enter into the coaching world, you are being groomed.
Embedded in every sales pitch and every lesson are hypnotic cues and triggers. Every free webinar is carefully structured and worded to harness your vulnerabilities, to give you false hope, and to leave you feeling that there is no other way than to reach deep into your pockets to pay for a few hours of recorded videos and worksheets.
Armed with the secrets that only they can teach you, within a few short weeks you can achieve God-like powers of manipulation healing, all for profit the benefit of others, and you too can quit your day job, find true freedom, and become part of this privileged circle of manipulative sirens enlightened sisters!
Even the kindness and familiarity you may experience with those in the industry comes only from their intentional matching and mirroring of your behavior, expressions, and voice tone—the first steps of hypnotic induction. The kindness is feigned.
More skilled practitioners know how to modulate their voices to lure you into a semi-hypnotic state in your waking life, a practice known as "conversational hypnosis".
All of this is really no surprise when you understand the backgrounds of those who are spearheading this so-called "wellness" movement.
All of them come from new age circles and are heavily involved with occult, Pagan, and Wiccan rituals. Masked by euphemisms like "love" and "self-expression", they indulge in orgies, polyamory, and tantric sex rituals.
They are really not the kinds of characters you want sowing their seeds in your subconscious mind!
And while they strive to project an image of happiness, success, and spiritual enlightenment (after all... that's all they are selling), in reality, they are deeply miserable, and experience countless issues in their own marriages due to the lack of true values, morality, and wisdom.
In short, these people are hedonistic charlatans and no amount of green-juice-filled mason jars, harem pants, or pagan symbols make up for the spiritual void within their own hearts.
Fortunately, thanks to the endless wave of gullible coaching students, they can easily hide it for their hashtag #sisterhood #grateful selfies as they relax on the beach on a remote island, or dance naked at Burning Man.
So if you're considering hiring a coach, or becoming coach, look a bit more deeply into the lives of those you are choosing to work with.
Read some books on Erickson, NLP, and rapport building ahead of time so you can recognize the ways they are manipulating you.
At the same time you may discover that instead of spending the thousands of dollars to get a bogus certificate, you could simply buy a few books on Amazon and teach or guide yourself.
To quote Good Will Hunting:
You dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a f**in' education you coulda got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.
The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.
