Most of the time we hear people say that physical workouts are of great benefit for the human body, but what about the mind-aspect of our being? We know that even a quick workout of about 20-30 min can greatly increase the serotonin production & release into our bloodstream, hence why most of the time we feel relieved, awake and in peace after a workout. But subconsciously there is much more happening to us than we might think. How is the mind connected to all of this?
Almost every time that we push ourselves towards our limits, we experience a fight within ourselves. A voice that does the exact opposite of what you ask it to do. You were so motivated and determined to give your best and go beyond your known ‘limit’, but as soon as you reached a certain point of fatigue, you started listening to the voice of your unconscious mind. That voice told you all the things you needed to hear to make you stop, and now that you did, it became stronger than you. You gave it power that you had inside of yourself.
What we must understand is that this voice is not us, but a part of ourselves, hence therefore it can be trained and controlled. The greatest things don’t happen within our limits, but outside of them. True strength and perseverance are gained through personal victories within our own mind. Everyday we first wake up, that in itself is the first battle in our mind. Once we start understanding that every decision is nothing more than a tug of war within us, we realize we are in control of everything. What do I exactly mean by that?
The next time you find yourself physically battling on the edge of your limits, you will know what to listen to and where to focus your energy on. Understanding yourself and the everyday war in you, is the beginning of unleashing your true power; the power of will. Through perseverance and repetition you will be able to silence everything that which does not benefit you.
The best way to go about it is to repeat affirmations to yourself, affirmations that you’ll easily remember. For example, ‘’I will stick this through.’’ or ‘’I only know how to succeed.’’ Words are powerful and you’ll soon realize that. They can either offer us more energy, or rob us of our own. That which you do not speak or think, cannot occur. You have to create the reality of success in your mind first, before you can do it on a physical level. Another reason why a daily morning routine for example is of such importance, is because it strengthens our inner soul and being. Daily breathing exercises (includes physically strenuous work) are a great and fast way to master ourselves. In order to master breathing we have to be aware of it. A conscious breath is like an affirmations in every second.
Physical Training therefore is a great benefit for the external physical form, and for the spiritual manifestation inside ourselves. Physical extortion trains not only the body but also the mind, because mind and body and connected. Hence we must understand that there is no physical betterment if the mind is lacking.
Conclusively I can therefore say that when we work out, we should give our thoughts or mind the same attention that we give our body, because only through a mutual collaboration of the two, can we truly become our best versions. Our body is the tool, and our mind the realization that we are in control of the tool.
