What do you run from?

"She sat down in the hallway. About to tie the laces on her jogging shoes. She rises. Taking up one last look in the mirror. Horse tail is tight and fine. Brand new training tights, compression type for that extra butt lift. New Nike free. 0.5 type. The top was a little too tight so she had to cover her belly with a hoodie. It was at least a bit baggy. Like that. She was ready."

                  

What do you run from?


This question came into my mind when I was out running the other day. Where I live there are several nice places to run. Today it was Stokkavannet. I chose to run in left trail today. Rule breaker. I meet more people that way. These young beautiful boys but specially girls .. Face to face. Also older but far from the same face expression. The youngest expresses anxiety, stress, pressure, idealism to be exactly. They lift one leg after the other, heavily . Sweat is pouring down their faces. Was there any point in spending time on that makeup before you left?  I can see your struggling young lady.. but I also see you're trying to do something about just that. But unfortunately there are a few laps more around this "image" before you know you're getting somewhere. If you're lucky enough to find the realism of it. Realism is what that actually is. Culturally, we’re becoming well attuned to the pressure girls are under to achieve an idealized figure. The boys are also following..sadly yes. But today my focus was on the girls. Therefore I wanted to post this and just ad some good advices how to find yourself. At least you could try them out. Stop running from your fears, just face them. Things will change.

 1. Meditation

“Meditation is a way to know your true self. All you need to know is within yourself, seeking it externally in the world will only take you so far. You need to look within.” -Yuk, munk from Thailand.

2. Allow failure

Allow yourself to be imperfect, and yet still make progress. If you think too much about failure is a bigger risk that you actually do fail. Do not pre-determine what the outcome is. Leave it to the vagaries.

3. Listen to your heart

We all get stuck in our thoughts and actions from time to time. The key is not to let it continue any longer than necessary. The sooner you can free your thoughts, the better you will feel.

4. Forgive yourself. Love yourself.

You need to forgive yourself for feeling angry, for getting upset, for all things you think you’ve done wrong. They are in the past and who you are now is not who you were then. What you are right now, is what is important.

5. Dont compare

You can control one life—yours. But when we constantly compare ourselves to others, we waste precious energy focusing on other peoples’ lives rather than our own. YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!
