Alpha - Lipoic AcidsteemCreated with Sketch.

Now my dear health fans, this may sound dangerous as it has the word acid in it....it's not at all. It is a vitamin-like supplement that is soluble in both fat and water. It can be found in red meats, liver and yeast and is actually found naturally in every cell of the body.

p.s. I do apologise for the big slab of meat...I'm just demonstrating a food source of alpha-lipoic acid. Hope you like my illustration though :)

THERE APPEAR TO BE NO SAFETY ISSUES OR SIDE EFFECTS OF ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID BUT IF YOU ARE STILL UNSURE, CONSULT A DOCTOR.

Vitamin C and E:
Alpha-lipoic acid protects these two vitamins from oxidation by building up the body's antioxidant defences. This keeps your immune system strong and helps to fight ageing.

Antioxidant:
It is not officially classed as an antioxidant itself but helps the formation of the body's natural antioxidant substances, including glutathione. Glutathione is incredibly popular and quite hard to get hold of as a supplement but alpha-lipoic acid is what you need to help it along.

Detoxifier:
It neutralises free radicals in our bodies and protects our cells from damage.

Improves Creatine Supplements:
Alpha-lipoic acid appears to mimic the effects of insulin which pushes Creatne into muscle fibres.

My Personal Opinion -
I've quite honestly never tried it so would love if someone could tell me how it goes!

I guess around 30% of my food is meat, and i like it that way.

I guess it very much depend on what you and your body are used to. :)
