Happy days my dear friends of Steemians, today I will be talking about Mountain Biking, which is an excellent sport that benefits us physically, mentally and emotionally.


Mountain biking is one of several extreme sports, which is practiced in mountainous places or places that have slopes or obstacles. Mountain biking is an excellent sport for health, although it is also risky if you do not have the necessary experience to practice it.

Practicing a sport is liberating for the body and if you do it in a free space this gives you more pleasure, if you are one of those who like extreme sports, mountain biking is one of the best options. Traveling the mountain by bike is encouraging, as well as providing adrenaline to your life, it is also a great exercise for physical, mental and emotional health.

Specialties of mountain biking:

There are different specialties of this sport, among them we have:

1. Cross Country or Rally (XC):It is the most known variant and consists of the competition for ascending and descending terrain.
2. Downhill: It is a term related to downhill routes.
3. Uphill: Unlike the previous one, it's about promotion races. Win who manages to travel the greatest distance in less time.
4. Cross Country Olympics: This is a competition that follows Olympic standards.
5. XCR: It is a competition in which relays are given at the end of the race.
6. XCE:It is a modality in which the last one to reach the goal is eliminated.

Health benefits:

Mountain biking is a sport that requires a great capacity of physical resistance which we are acquiring with practice.

Among the benefits that this sport brings to health we have:

1.- It connects you more with nature.

2.- It benefits your mental and emotional health: This is because exercise strengthens memory and sharpens the ability to solve complicated problems.

3.- Allows you to burn more calories than riding a normal bike (170 to 200 calories in half an hour).

4.- Improves coordination and balance skills.

5.- Helps control weight and significantly reduces bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood.

6.- The muscles of the dorsal vertebrae are stimulated in each training and strengthens them.

7.- Each pedal stimulates circulation and prevents the appearance of varicose veins and stretch marks.

8.- Encourages personal improvement, due to obstacles that arise.

9.- It stimulates the immune system since it stimulates the mobilization of the phagocytes.

10.- Increase your moments of happiness with endorphins: These neurotransmitters work as natural analgesics that make us feel lighter and generate a feeling of well-being.

11.- Due to the position with which this sport is practiced, it strengthens the lower back and prevents the appearance of herniated discs.

12.- Reduces the chances of suffering cardiovascular problems and increases lung capacity.
