How to Buy Your First Juicer

When you look at the juicer market place today the choice is amazing, bewildering even, here is our advice for starting off on your juicing journey and hopefully some tips to make this a life long health boosting and guarding lifestyle.

Fresh juice is better than no juice!

For most of us, me included, the juicing journey begins with a centrifugal juicer, this is a great start, the machines are cheap to buy and will last a while and they will juice a wide range of produce. Most benefit from a whole fruit feed tube and will make fresh juice really quickly. The downside is they can wear out quite quickly and it is our theory that the centrifugal extraction method put a lot of air into the juice and can oxidise precious nutrients. Have a look at our cold press juicer v centrifugal juicer on apple juice video to see what we mean.

That said, centrifugal juicer juice consumed immediately is a great start and certainly better than store bought juices that have been heat treated and sat around for a few days after making.

If you can, go cold pressed.

Low rpm, masticating, slow, cold press are all juicing technology terms that all mean the same thing, the juice extractor turns a LOT slower than a centrifugal juicer and employs a crushing ‘mill stone’ style auger to press the produce against a perforated juicing screen that lets the juices flow while trapping and spitting out the pulp. With this style of juicing machine you make better quality juice, usually more juice is extracted from a wider range of produce and the machines are more robust than a centrifugal juicer, simply down to their much lower running speeds.

There are two styles horizontal and vertical cold press juicers both are good but it looks like the vertical juicers are taking over because they are simply better for general purpose juicing. These juicers are an investment, but you generally get a much longer warranty and lifespan and more efficiency or value from your produce. If you are sure juicing is for you, it is worth the outlay in our opinion. These are probably the easiest style of juicer to clean too.

The third way, twin gears

Twin gear juicers are expensive but they are incredible, super precise, the best possible extraction rate or yield and top of the range build quality. The Angel twin gear is King of the Juicers! But check out the price tag, this is not a casual purchase!

In summary

get juicing!

As soon as you can, nothing has improved my life more than a daily dose of freshly made fruit and vegetable juice. All the people that we have introduced to juicing over the years confirm these benefits. Fresh, raw juices change lives! If you can afford it, get a cold pressed machine, the savings are there in the long run. If you like the best things in your life, consider a twin gear, but to really get the most out of this class of juice extractor, it has to be an Angel stainless steel twin gear.
