This is a very scary situation. If you get sick you have 2 options: you go bankrupt,or die. When you listen to my story, please keep in mind that I'm from Europe, and the healthcare system over there is WAY different (basically free if you pay taxes) so that's why I didn't see this coming.I welcome all your tips and advice,I really need help in this situation!

Your story resonates with me, because on a number of occasions over the past couple of years we've taken my daughter to the ER.

Thankfully, in Australia, we have public hospitals so it doesn't cost a cent. Though I often walk out of there complaining that we had to wait 3,4,5+ hours.

Health insurance is a scam, and it puts upward pressure on the cost of health care to those that do not have health insurance.

Unfortunately, in Australia, after you earn a certain amount, you have to pay extra tax if you don't have health insurance, so you end up paying for it one way or another.

In Europe as well you pay for it with your taxes. The higher amount you earn, the higher your taxes (healthcare included) will be.Yet at the end of the day,you are way better off financially when it comes to healthcare. Why did your daughter needed ER?

Shes been a few times now, usually flu, gastro, etc

we are lucky we have the NHS, despite there troubles it is always there for you for now ....

What is NHS?

National Health Service , no worrying about cost of operations , but if your being sarcastic the system is in trouble with nurses going on strike ,the medical profession is very underpaid and long hours

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
You could start a croudsourced web page where people can report hospital costs for various treatments.
They could enter how much the cost was and how much they had to pay out-of-pocket.

This could everyone to look up the cost first before entering a hospital.
It almost feels like you are forced to buy something without a price ticket and it will cost you what some one makes up. There is currently no way I know of to compare one facility against another.

I bet within the same hospital people receiving the same treatment will pay vastly different sums of money.

IMHO Healthcare should be available for all citizens. A sick nation is a declining nation.

I don't want to offend or get political but seriously to bring down health care cost for everyone, left, right, green blue, brown, purple AND white:
