Hello everyone i'm Dr.mosab how are you hope you all doing good 

So today we have another common questions is that what is Orthodontic and why i need it for ?

, also some patient's says oh these metal brackets gonna look so ugly is there another solution , will i feel pain during treatment and How long it takes ???????

What is Orthodontic ?

Orthodontic is the branch of dentistry dealing with the prevention and correction of irregular teeth, as by means of braces. 

why  do i need orthodontic ?

it's not correct that every one need's orthodontic braces it just some people with mis-aligned teeth which also 

interfere with normal function of the mouth as cross-bite ,deep bite ,class 1 malocclusion (Crowding of teeth)

class 2 , class 3 , shifted mid-line of teeth in compare to mid-line of face (as tom cruse here )

 

if i left my teeth un-corrected or un-treated will this be bad on my future oral health ?

well this depends on degree of mal-occlusion weather there is early mesial shift or not 

if i decided to have an Orthodontic What are my options for treatment ?

1-metal braces which can be used with a combination of creamics braces for anterior teeth which is less visible 

2-Invisalign also called clear aligner which is good for many cases 

3-Lingual braces it's new way for correcting teeth and ( alot of cases shows high success ) many patient's like it 

as it is less shown and also faster in treatment  

 

How the discomfort can be reduced ?

recently a new type of bracket system called self-ligating bracket has reduced dis-comfort markedly alot than conventional elastic tie type and yea it's faster

How can i maintain a good oral hygiene with orthodontic brackets in place ?

 well , this is the most important part as patient need the inter-dental brush by which it can goes in between 

the wire and brackets to clean the area probably , as bracket act as a retentive area for plaque and bacteria if not well cleaned here how it looks like 

When i can remove my braces ?

this particular question depends on many things including what is degree of mal-occlusion is it severe moderate , what type bracket system the orthodontist used ,degree of cooperation with orthodontist 

do you follw up regular with you orthodontist ??!!

will some of teeth will be extracted ?

in most cases there is no need for extraction unless the crowding is severe
