In Indonesia, soursop is one of the easy to find fruit. With a sweet taste and a distinctive fragrance to be processed as juice, syrup, dodol, and many other variations. Soursop is also claimed to treat cancer. Is that right?
There are various articles in the virtual world that states that soursop is able to slow the spread of cancer cells. Yet no one has been able to present medical research evidence against it.
Scientific Evidence
Since the study of soursop in 1997, the fruit is then widely referred to as anticancer drugs. The results of one study revealed, the effect of chemotherapy in destroying breast cancer cells is lower than soursop compounds. However, without a valid clinical trial, this is still not provable. Until now, no studies have tested the truth of this claim in humans directly and on a considerable scale.
With claims to cure cancer, now many soursop supplements that can be purchased freely at affordable prices in Indonesia. However, there is no scientific evidence to corroborate it, so there is no known safety and effectiveness. For that reason, it is important to still give priority to cancer treatment as recommended by your doctor.
If you decide to use soursop supplements as part of cancer treatment, consult your doctor first. Not impossible, these supplements actually risk disrupting the effectiveness of chemotherapy is being done. In addition, make sure the products you consume are listed in the BPOM (Food and Drug Supervisory Agency).

Bacterial infection
Parasitic infections

Arthritis
Side effects
The body's reaction to soursop, especially in large quantities, is not known with certainty. One that was revealed by researchers is the risk of neurological changes and motion disorders that resemble Parkinson's disease, triggered by chemical content in soursop.
A study found something not much different. There is a change of nerves and hallucinations, in people who consume lots of soursop. Only, when soursop consumed in a normal portion, is still considered safe and does not pose a danger.
For pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding, should not consume soursop supplements because of the potential impact on the fetus and breast milk. If you want to consume soursop as an alternative treatment step, always talk first with your doctor especially if you have certain medical conditions.
