So, the weird thing that happened yesterday morning about two hours after I took the medication happened again today. Considering the only two times it's ever happened to me, it's been after taking this new migraine medication, I'm pretty sure it's a side effect.
It's just a weird feeling, and only lasted half an hour.
So I don't count it as a bad side effect.
Also experienced a little weird numbness, but I was warned that that was the most common side effect.
This medication can also suppress the appetite, which wouldn't actually be a bad thing for me. I'm fat as fuck, so...
Today, as of a few hours ago, I started feeling a bit of the appetite thing.
But...
The way that I'm feeling it is that I'm hungry. Starving, actually. (And justifiably so, I've barely eaten today.) So I feel that I'm extremely hungry. I just don't have much of an appetite.
This is the kind of appetite suppression that my depression often causes me. And I absolutely hate it. I'm hoping that it'll change into not only not having much of an appetite, but not feeling as hungry overall, and not caring about the hunger that I do feel.
From what I've read, the way it makes you feel about hunger/appetite can change as you increase the dosage.
So here's hoping that it changes to how I really hope it does, rather than staying as it is now. If it stays how it is right now? I'll end up going batshit insane, and I don't think I'll be able to keep taking this medication.
But, the side effects can change, increase and decrease as the dosage increases. So I'm gonna do my very best to hang in here and get to the dosage the neurologist wants me to achieve before we decide whether or not I can live with this. Once I even out at the right dosage, the plan is to switch me over to a once daily longer acting form of this medication that has a lower rate of side effects.
Aside from the weird feeling that starts two hours after taking the medicine and lasts half an hour, the bit of weird numbness, and the appetite thing, I haven't noticed anything else, positive or negative.
So at this point, I'm calling the appetite bit annoying, but overall, I still consider this "so far so good".
I also now have my new "stop the migraine in its tracks" medication to try out next time I have a migraine. And since I feel a migraine brewing in my head already, odds are very likely that I'll be taking this medication sometime over the weekend. (At this point, the migraine hasn't actually started hitting me hard enough to justify taking anything more than caffeine for it yet. In my experiences, if I treat the migraine too early, it may go away for a short period of time, but it'll come back much harder. So I'm waiting patiently.)
Here's hoping that that medication doesn't end up doing the same thing the last one did.
There is a way to stop migraines if they are caused by allergy to food. You only consume the 'safe' foods i.e. pears, lamb if a meat eater, parsnips and distilled water for 5 days. During the first 2 days you will have a severe migraine from withdrawal of your allergy trigger. Then you introduce new foods one a day remembering to also introduce ingredients separately. When the trigger is introduced you will know it is the culprit as you will suffer a migraine. I know this method works. We even found a friend's trigger to be yeast. It is an ingredient in many things so very hard to find. Once fermented it is no longer a trigger for him so he can still enjoy lager.
I am sorry to write such a long comment but trying to help.

Your comment isn't long, but it is pretty annoying because it assumes that I don't already know this.
I've been suffering from severe and chronic migraines since I was three years old. I have been suffering from severe and chronic migraines for twenty-five years.
I'm allergic to pretty much every food in some way or another. Most of my food allergies aren't migraines triggers. Some are. I'm also extremely allergic to my environment. Outside of living in a medically sterile environment (of which, I would still have environmental allergies), there's not much I can do about alleviating my migraines by changing my environment. I've tried many times. It's not a realistic option for me. I can change some small things, but that's about it.
There are times that I choose to eat something that I know is a migraine trigger simply because if I didn't, my existence would be even more miserable. Migraines triggered by food are almost always significantly easier to get rid of than the migraines I usually get.
I do appreciate your concern, but I'm not gonna lie and pretend it didn't annoy me a little. I know that wasn't your intention and not really your fault. Most people probably don't put nearly as much time and energy into migraines and fighting them as I have, or as you and your friend have. So it's understandable. It can just be frustrating for me because I have put in all that time and effort and most suggestions that people give me are things that I've tried over and over again and have failed and/or even made things significantly worse.
So far, my new neurologist seems to be my best hope.

That's actually not the message I was trying to convey? But I had a feeling that's how it was gonna come across.
I'm one of those people that believes in being upfront and honest about something even if it isn't necessarily the nicest thing.
What I failed horribly at doing was trying to say that while I did find it a bit annoying because it felt like you were assuming that I haven't gone to great lengths to fight these migraines, that I still did appreciate the fact that you cared to try to help.
I am very sorry that I failed at making that clear earlier.

No need to apologize. I have a painful long term health problem myself so tend to muscle in if I think I have some information that might help someone else. The thing I'm best at is annoying people, ha ha, as you found out. I hope you find some effective meds soon.

Yeah, I have quite a few long term health issues, and I can be guilty of it sometimes myself.
So far I'm very impressed with this preventative medication. It's only been a few days, but I'm impressed.
I'll be giving an update about Days 3 and 4 here in a couple hours.
By the way, you're welcome to muscle in in the future. Just please do keep in mind that I do try a lot of things and do a lot of research. With keeping those things in mind about each other, I think this could be a beautiful, possibly even helpful, relationship. :D

I just posted about medication side effects just a bit ago too! I hope your meds straighten out and the feeling you are having subsides. I totally understand the appetite/depression thing. Like, I know I need to eat but I want nothing. Then I get all messed up from not eating! Ugh! Good luck to you. My mom just got her daith pierced to stop her migraines. Just a thought.

I've been planning on getting a daith in my left ear (because the migraines tend to start or end up in my left side more than not, and I tend to sleep on my right side, so it'll be easier to let it heal) for quite some time now. The reason I haven't yet is because I'm immunocompromised and there are are lot of issues with infection that can happen there because of the low blood flow.
I still plan on doing it, but I do want to talk to this neurologist that I've started seeing about it. I'm not gonna necessarily decide against it if she doesn't believe in it. I'm just interested in her opinion on it.
After I get my left done and healed/mostly healed, I plan on getting my right done as well.
The best stories I've read about daith piercings is them taking around a full year to fully/mostly heal. So I'm planning on getting it done around the middle of October, which is when it starts to get pretty dry here where I live. I have much less issues with skin infections and thrush (a real issue when you're immunocompromised) starting in October, lasting until around the end of April. So I figured that would give me a pretty good stretch of time to let it heal without adding in the extra complications of just being me.
I'm trying to find a nice piercing that has a star in it, and a nice one with a moon. :)

Awesome! I hope all goes well for you. The people who did my moms made sure everything was surgically sterile. She is NOT the piercing/tattoo parlour type. She was thoroughly impressed. Again, I hope it all works out for you! Keep us updated.

While I don't have any piercings or tattoos yet, they're definitely something I want. I already have the place picked out, a place here in the metro area known for being exceptionally sterile and extremely caring about everything being sterile.
They also aren't a tattoo parlor, but I do plan on asking them for a few recommendations.
I need at least one small tattoo as soon as I can get it. My battles with depression are raging harder than ever, and more than ever, I need to tattoo on the inside of my left wrist "I MUST ENDURE" to remind myself that I can't give up.
I will definitely keep things updated!
I didn't write an update last night because I decided to avoid everyone. I was getting a lot of really stupid private messages and just felt like avoiding people yesterday. So I'll be doing an update for Days 3 and 4 tonight.

I understand that. Really, I do. I want a semicolon on mine to show that my sentence (my life) does not end here.

I actually really dislike the whole semicolon thing, personally.

Aww. It know it's been overused but I'm terrified of needles and getting a tattoo so if I ever got one it would be small and simple.

How do I report spams please? Nearly all my comments to my posts are almost the exact words @defreca used.

You go to their comments, copy the link, then open up Steemit.Chat, go to Steemcleaners Linkdrop, and leave your report with the link in there.
You can also report them in the comments for the @steemcleaners posts, but if they're getting notifications (such as if they're using eSteem, etc) they'll get a notification for being mentioned. They won't if you just use the linkdrop in Steemit.Chat.
