Greeting from Italy. A new decree established today the closure of every commercial activities in the Country - saved for articles of basic necessity. The previous decree said everyone has to stay home and is allowed go out just for work, health needs, emergencies, buying food. Italy is actually quarantined because of Coronavirus (CoViD 19).
People that need to go outdoor have to stay at least at 1 meter away from other people, wash their hands every time they touch something, go back home as soon as they can.
It looks like we are living in some distopic world, at the moment.
I know all of this is going to end soon but I don't think it will be ever exactly the same.
We are well, my family and I. We are calm - just a little worried, you know.
When all of this will be over, the economic recoil will be huge.
It seems an extreme measure for areas with a low infection rate. I am expecting more changes in the UK, but I hope people will stay calm and look after each other. It must be scary for those in northern Italy. At least there is hope as China is getting less cases now.

I guess you can operate from home anyway, but it will affect all sorts of businesses. My daughter's university is stopping lectures and her orchestra concert is postponed. I wonder if it will affect my workplace soon.

It's interesting to hear from someone within the quarantine. I'm curious, with all this going on, do you know anyone who has actually gotten sick? The news over here keeps showing us all these reports of panic with nothing but talking heads and stock footage but I haven't heard one report from an actual doctor or patient.

I live in a little town and we have just 30 sick people from COvid19, no dead so far. In Italy there are 15000+ sick and over 1200 deaths. So, I don't know personally anyone who is sick but I know people in the medical staff who are very worried and have to do extra shifts.

I got a package yesterday, the "quarantine" is effectively in full effect starting from today 3/12 but I think goods and shipping will not be affected. In fact, I work in the logistic/shipping sector and the factory is open.
I don't know how the government can pretend to contain a highly infective virus by forcing people to "strictly move only to go to work or to the groceries store".

I guess they're just playing by ear, I don't think anyone knows how to handle it, no one is prepared we all just want to continue our routines and not used to this level of disruption. We have 13 cases now in SA, I'm sure it will be 500 in 2 weeks
