Health Benefits of Onion...

Lowers the risk of cancer
Onions contain quercetin; a potent compound that helps prevent cancer. Consumption of onion, along with other allium vegetables like garlic, leeks and shallots are believed to lower the risk of cancers. The high content of flavonoid and allyl sulphide in these vegetables may be the reason why they reduce the risk of colon, stomach and oesophageal cancer.
Healthy heart
Just like garlic, onions lower high cholesterol levels and also bring down blood pressure levels. The quercetin present in onions is reported to help prevent the build-up of plaque in the arteries. It also reduces the chances of strokes and heart attacks.
Immunity
The presence of the Quercetin also helps boost the immune system. Allicin in onions slows down and kills bacteria and viruses. Consuming raw onion is believed to get rid of a cold and flu as soon as the first symptoms appear.
Digestion
Onions contain fibre, which facilitates a healthy digestive system and prevent gastric ulcers. They also help with flatulence and indigestion.
Caution:
Consumption of onions causes a drop in blood sugar levels, so people with diabetes have to keep a check.
Though onions are good for digestions, overeating of it can cause gastric irritation and burning.
Onions act as blood thinners, and this can be dangerous if you already have a condition that keeps your blood from clotting properly. OK NO MORE ti imageps
