Health Benefits of Drinking Hot Water

Hey everyone, in this post I am going to discuss the health benefits of drinking hot water, I think it will be a great way to add onto my post about drinking enough water throughout the day. In the last couple of days I have started to drink hot water regularly and have noticed immense health benefits. This got me thinking, are there actually any health benefits to drinking hot water?

After a little research and self-reflection, I found it very simple to list an abundance of reasons why everyone should drink hot water. To start, I realized that it facilitates my intermittent fasting tremendously, sipping on hot water warms the body and in turn, leaves me feeling satisfied and better able to fight off food cravings. I am also an avid coffee drinker and most of the time, drinking coffee on an empty stomach irritates more than it rejuvenates. Substituting hot water for coffee has been a great change, I have been meaning to take coffee out of my diet but was unable to find a replacement.

Rather than list all of the health perks you will feel from drinking hot water, I am going tell you the three benefits I find most important.

1). Improved Blood Circulation

As you drink hot water, your arteries and blood vessels will expand allowing better circulation throughout the body. Overtime, better circulation means for overall better health and improved body and muscle function.

2). Slow Down Aging

Similar to taking a hot shower, hot water will open up pores on the skin which will prevent wrinkles and the process of aging. As the body detoxifies germs and bacteria, the natural healing process is actually sped up which means for better cellular regeneration.

3). Healthier Hair

One of the main reasons for hair loss and dry hair is actually dehydration, drinking hot water will rejuvenate the roots of your hair. As hair follicles become healthier, you will start to grow healthier, shinier hair.

I've been drinking some hot water each day alongside my normal coffee/tea habits. I'll try to add more hot water so I can reduce my caffeine intake! This is very well-written, thank you!

Very interesting points about hot water. I never really thought to drink hot water before, but I do drink a lot of tea. I sometimes get a little jittery from drinking too much green tea, so I'll try substituting a few cups of tea for a few cups of hot water each day. Thanks for sharing this info, it's really helpful!

very intresting dear @purefood It also contributes to many benefits like loss of weight and breakdown of fatty tissues in the body, treatment of colds and flu,and when drinking warm water, the body's temperature starts to rise, producing sweat, which helps the body to expel toxins, and helps to make the bowel movement healthy and painless..

This is really nice to know ! Great article which shows what we get by taking hot water.I literally had no idea that there are benefits of it but now I plan to drink water which isn't very cold. Lets not forget that tea is also hot water in a way but there are differences obviously.

Tea is delicious ! I used to drink chamomile and mountain tea almost everyday but I changed my schedule and that stopped me from drinking as often. I do definitely drink from time to time.It's warming my soul and it gives me health benefits ^^

I also find it very nice to drink in the morning! It surprisingly is a great substitute for coffee, it’s a great way to start the day!

Lukewarm water to room temperature water is the optimum range for drinking water. It will regulate our body temperature :)

Yes I also believe drinking room temperature water throughout the day is very important. However, hot water does offer unique health benefits that room temperature cannot. Thank you very much for the feedback! 👍

The truth is that I love to drink water but that is cold, the colder for me, better since I live in a very hot city; I did not know the benefits of drinking especially hot water, I will try; Before, my meals could not be without a soda next door, now a glass of water is indispensable for me. I'll try the hot water, thanks for sharing your experience.

You’re welcome @joss9223, glad you are going to try it, but do it on a cooler day haha. If you are always exposed to higher temperatures you probably experience similar health benefits just from that! I love cold water as well though when I workout so I’m with ya there!

Me too re: coffee as a stomach irritant. If you have the option, adding juice from half a lemon to your water first thing in the morning helps stimulate digestive fire and clear toxins too.

despite these benefit, it's the normal water that pleases my thirst.

I find that I like room temperature/cooler water when I am working out. However, I find that sitting in class or at work is the perfect time for some hot water.
