I believe that every country is different and I'm in agreement with doing your research. Here in Costa Rica you are far better drinking rain water than water sitting in the soil because many bacterias. Also I remember when my dad was teaching me hiking and camping lessons, he said water that is flowing is better but you will always need to boil it. @OriginalWorks thanks for sharing this post.

Thanks, yes moving water always a good choice over still. Boiling is the best practice. Even rain water can have bacteria and contaminants in it anymore. Thanks for your comment!

You could go as far as boiling the water under pressure to get temperatures higher.
