Creation of a Full-Extract Spagyric Tincture of CBD-Rich Cannabis. Part 2

In the First Part of Our Article we took our CBD Rich Cannabis and put it in a mason jar covered with 96%Grain Alcohol leaving it to macerate.

Filtering:
Once our Tincture has properly macerated, we now have to strain out the dark green liquid seperating the plant matter from the tincture. For this step we simply pour our liquid into a suitable glass vessel and capture the plant matter in the filter.

Seal your glass vessel we will need that a little bit later, first we must acquire the alkaline mineral salts from the plant matter we have left over after straining off the liquid.

Calcination:
To do this we place our plant matter in a fireproof pot (I used a copper pan) and we go outside and set fire to it, burning it to a fine grey (if possible even white) ash.

Keep stirring the plant matter around while it burns, and in the final stages you can use your breath to let the burning embers further calcinate the rest once the flames have died off.

Retrieving the Mineral Salts:
Once we have our ashes, we need to add them into a glass bottle and fill it up with distilled water. I let this soak overnight, be careful this solution is highly alkaline and caustic. It is basically a lye in this form. (Be generous with the water, for small projects I still use around 500ml to be sure I am leaching out all the salts from the ash.)

Crystallization:
Once the water has leached the salts, we must pour it through a coffee filter into a large glass pan (preferably pyrex). The ashes in the filter you can dispose of. The water we will gently evaporate at 120° in the oven or on a gentle heat on a heating plate, this will crystallize out our mineral salts.

Once the crystals have crystallized scrape them off and store them in a glass vial in a dry space. They are highly hygroscropic. And to enable a successfull marriage with our tincture must be void of any moisture, since that will prevent the two from reacting.(if the salts get wet, we can bake them in the oven for the final stage to restore them to dryness).

In this Part we have acquired both our highly purified alkaline mineral plant salts and we have our tincture.
