Whatsapp Consultation

in health •  7 years ago

So in my line of work i expect the unexpected and every now and again i get messages from random people with problems, this recently is starting to happen more and more since my presence in the Country for the large part had been hidden.

However a few months ago it started to become common knowledge I was here so when anyone has any problems they send me a whatsapp to discuss their situation.

Now this is a real situation and as you can see from the time stamps happened about an hour ago.

I love the applications of digital health and this furthers my faith in it. A complete consultation over whatsapp without seeing the patient, now if he was on steem i could have charge a few SBD for the consult........... Now that gives me an idea!!

Now obviously if i did this myself it is much more likely that it would have been over in 5 mins, but that being said, all over and done in 30 mins is not bad i think!!

Wow @robmenzies, this is actually a great thing! And I absolutely love your "bedside manner" ... and I honestly think that you would have a great response and earn some SBD in the process, I would certainly partake if I needed to.

Thanks @monchhichi23. I honestly think this type of consultation will become normal practice before very long. You can see it successfully employed with the Telephone consultation service in the U.K.

It seems to be very effective at reducing the number of people having to go to their hospital, or Primary Care Clinics. Obviously it's no substitute for when things are really wrong, or needs a proper assessment and examination, but for general queries etc I believe it is beneficial. Thankfully the patient was able to resolve the issue themselves without issue, and it saved them a trip to come and see me today.

I always believe laughter is the best "medicine" Having experienced also what they had done first hand, I know exactly what they had experienced I know it couldn't have waited the night if they couldn't fix it themselves. ( I remember jumping around like a lunatic when it happened ). I am just glad for the happy resolution!!

I can think of a lot of times that this service would have been beneficial for me. I was shocked to see that my insurance offers online doctor visits now. It's a video call I believe. What a great idea! I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but am so glad it's there if I should need it. How many times did I not go to the doctor because it was something I thought was insignificant, and only once was that decision a mistake. Thank you for the help you give to people. Being here on Steemit and meeting the people, such as yourself, that I've met... you guys are restoring my faith in humanity.

Yes, it is good to see your insurance provider is allowing you to access e-health/ tele-medicine. It does actually save a lot of time for both the patient and the doctor. But also gives the reassurance that everything is ok. I know several centres have a 24/7 call centre just for this. I know skype is a popular format for this just now as they accept payments, but with crypto currencies increasing its a simple as scanning a QR code and hey presto payment done. The good thing about Steemit is that its almost instantaneous and you dont have to wait the long confirmation times compared to BTC.

Maybe next time you need to see a doc (hopefully not for a long time) you can try it out.

This is crazy that you're talking about this!!!! I was just telling my hubby about you the other day and he suggested this same thing!!! (but you're already ahead of the curve! hehehe) We have some functional medicine doctors here who do the same thing! It's such a convenience!!! People can have the doctor they want WITHOUT having the distance be something to inhibit them! Some also have "meet and greet" trips where they incorporate a week long conference style trip (filled with classes, whole foods meals and snacks, spa/health services, etc) with consultations set up with the doctor throughout the week. Really cool options for people who want the whole package.

Maybe after you build up your Whatsapp clientelle... you can start setting up trips! hehehehe

Ha ha ha yes I do love my gadgets and tech for medical purposes, i could tell you more but it would spoil my surprise just now ;)

Yes it certainly would be interesting exploring the option of doing that type of lifestyle medicine on the platform. Unfortunately the only ones who are whatsapping me are people in Qatar so doesnt involve too much travel!! But tou never know it could grow into a bog showcase and who knows where it might lead..... the path leas trodden.

it will grow! i need to ask you about my blood issues hahahaha so i 'll whatsapp you just so you can get practice on Americans!!!! LOL (i get a special friend discount right?!?!?! LOL)

and surprise?!?!! i love surprises! hehehehe now you've whetted my appetite for more! you're getting really good at luring people in! hahahaha You're a steemit natural ;) i will be dicording you tomorrow at some random time to let you know that your discord friendly chatterbox is BAAAAAACK lol
