A doctor in Alabama, USA named Jason Valentine admitted to rejecting patients who had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. He said he was frustrated when he received sick patients who had not been vaccinated.
It is known that Alabama itself is one of the states in the United States that has very low COVID-19 vaccination coverage. This has also caused the state to experience a spike in COVID-19.
The Alabama Hospital Association said on Tuesday (17/8/2021), there were 1,568 patients who needed the ICU while the capacity was only 1,557 beds.
The reason Jason turned it down was because he was frustrated that the sick patients who came to him had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. He didn't even mind if the patient went to another doctor.
"To this day we don't have an effective therapy to treat severe cases, but we have a great way to prevent it, namely vaccines. Unfortunately, there are still many who refuse vaccines and some of them end up seriously ill or die," Jason wrote as quoted from The Washington Post.
"I can't and won't force people to take the COVID-19 vaccine, but I also can't watch my patients suffer and die from a preventable disease," he continued.
