Why do we(you) eat?

A simple question right? We eat because we need to sustain ourselves, Done and done end of the article. If only it was that simple. In today's society, the answer to this question is somewhat more complex and broader than you might think. There are many reasons why we eat nowadays than purely for survival.

We eat for social reasons, for example to maintain or create relationships and friendships. We eat for emotional reasons, such as heartbreak or even happiness and sometimes the reason we eat is related to geography. For example, a big reason to eat in Western societies is for pleasure. Pleasure as in the culinairy experience it comes with. We eat for (self) validation and sometimes we use food as a tool for rewards and punishment.

It is therefore important to realize what motive drives you to eat and what its potential effect is on your lifestyle. Is food just nurishment for you? Or does food have many other roles in your life? So think about what role(food) has in your life and why you eat. Perhaps in doing so you will get a better understanding of yourself and open doors to a healthier lifestyle.
