It is urgent for people to manage their stress because perception of stress can initiate heart attack. It is commonly accepted that assumption that stress and depression can affect health is certainly reasonable for everyone. Recent studies reveal that this sort of assumption can be dangerous. Research studies show that people who believe stress can affect their health are more prone to heart attacks.
Researchers found that people who have such a negative thought are likely to have twice of the risk for heart attack compared to those who do not believe that stress can affect their health.
“The perception of how strong the effect of stress on their health could be true. Yet, if they have such a perception, they should immediately take action to check their heart health,” said the author of the study, Hermann Nabi, from the Centre for research in Epidemiology and Population Health at INSERM, France.
However this study did not look at whether the person’s perception of stress is associated with cardiovascular disease, neither did it explain that reducing the perception of stress or reducing stress can reduce the risk of heart attack.
In this study, Nabi’s team collected data from 7,000 men and women since 1985. They were asked about the perception of stress and their health. In addition, researchers also measured levels of stress and considered other factors such as smoking, drinking alcohol, diet, and physical activity.
It would seem that more research is needed to clearly define the relationship between a person’s perception of stress with heart disease they experienced. In addition, researchers should also investigate to determine whether reducing stress or changing perspective can reduce the risk of heart attack. However, it is certainly essential that people are able to treat their stress, train and exercise their stress management skills so that they can avoid illness associated with stress.
