Choosing skin care products for babies should not be careless. If one choose, your baby's skin is still sensitive may be irritated.

It is recommended to choose skin care products that are specially formulated for babies. Do not apply products that are intended for all ages, as they can damage the skin of the Little One who is still thin, smooth and prone to dryness than adult skin.

Your baby, especially a new born, needs skin care products like baby soap, shampoo, baby oil, lotions, and ointments for diaper rash. Here are some things you need to know before buying skin care products for your baby:

Fragrance free and dye. Make sure you read the labels on the packaging. Choose baby skin care products that do not have extra perfumes and dyes. It may irritate your baby's skin and disrupt the respiratory system.

Avoid products labeled antibacterial or antimicrobial. Both of these substances can indeed kill germs. However, it is advisable not to use any cleaning products labeled as antibacterial or antimicrobial on your dirty baby skin. Dirty skin can be cleaned by using only mild soap or wet tissue that does not contain alcohol.

Paraben free and phthalate. Paraben is usually used as a preservative, while phthalate is often used as a softener in skin care products. The substance may be harmful if exposed to baby's skin.

Hypoallergenic. Hypoallergenic writing on the product indicates that the likelihood of Small Person having an allergic reaction becomes smaller.

Alcohol-free. This substance can make your baby's skin become dry and may mengiritasinya. In the packaging, alcohol is often written with the name ethyl alcohol (ethanol). This type of alcohol can easily irritate your baby's skin. In addition to that type, there are also written cetearyl alcohol or fatty alcohol. Well, this type of alcohol does not cause dry skin or irritation.

Understanding the pH. You may often see pH writing on the packaging of baby skin care products. Well, the pH levels indicate how much acid or alkaline levels in a product.

Newborn skin usually changes from neutral pH (pH7) to slightly acid (pH5). Thus, it is advisable to choose a pH that is close to the pH level of the baby's skin.

Choosing a product with neutral pH also does not matter, as long as your skin is healthy and not dry.

Choose a natural one. Chemicals on baby skin care products can irritate their skin. So, choose a natural based. However, if your family has a history of allergies or asthma, your baby may be sensitive to products made from plants. So sometimes natural ingredients may not necessarily fit on your baby's skin.

Choose sunscreen. If your baby is over 6 months old, you may apply his entire body with sunscreen while on the move in the sun. Choose sunscreen that has the highest SPV level (minimum SPV 30), and contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, and it says broad-spectrum (can block UVA and UVB rays).

In addition to the above factors, make sure you check the product's expiration date and how long the product can last after the packaging is opened. Note also how to use and the warning on the packaging.

Before applying lotion on the skin, it is advisable to do a skin test first, especially if your baby's skin is dry. Apply a little lotion on his feet and wait up to a day to see if the product is causing an allergic reaction or not.
