Week three sugar-free, is it really sustainable?

in health •  8 years ago

Hi day 18! So, what's the news?

  1. Thinking about giving up sugar was harder than actually doing it.

  2. How blissfully happy I am without it, I never thought I’d ever say that!

  3. The fact that I have been wasting so much full fat foods like egg yolks, cream, cheese. I’m serious, I used to chuck the stuff out or remove it from any meal that was made for me where possible.

  4. Coconuts have changed my life! I never really liked the taste of coconut cream, milk, water no coconut anything unless it was used topically – perhaps my palate has changed, perhaps I’ve become a little re-educated – who knows? Anyways the point is that because I use a lot more of the stuff in my cooking it satiates my appetite in ways that sugar never could and I could even go so far as saying it has made giving sugar up possible.

The whole point of trying out this experiment for me was to see if. . .

  1. I truly put my mind to changing a personal struggle i.e like a 30 day sugar free challenge could I do it?

  2. When the 30 day challenge is done, will it be a habit that I can sustain to make it more of a lifestyle decision?

I wasn’t sure that I could answer those questions when I started the challenge. With just 12 days left I can say with absolute conviction that I never want to look back to the amounts of sugar my household could consume ever again and the answer to both questions is ‘YES!’

I use cold-pressed coconut oil in just about anything.
Raw organic cacao is also very good and healthy.

That's a very fine choice! And thank you for the information :)

This would be a challenge for me too - maybe... THX for sharing ;-)

Well, see if you can :)

good vibes. you almost at the end :)

I hope so! Thanks :)

I (almost) gave up sugar too. I failed. But at least I'm down to almost no extra sugar in my diet.
And I'm a lot better for it.
So more power to you and your quest to control your sugar intake.

I'll give it to you... you're good! So, thank you all for watching and thank you for your support.

I too used to consume waaaaay too much sugar and so decided to stop several months ago. In baking I now use things like honey, dates, bananas, apples etc for sweetness, and I really don't miss sugar at all... not even chocolate! Good on you for giving it up and finding nutritious and satiating things to include in your diet instead :-)

Well done!!!
