The intoxicating aroma and an ensuing shock of alertness, indeed coffee serves as the daily wake up call for many people and provide an energy boost to our lives. It's not surprising that coffee is one of the most utilized beverages in the world. Coffee is not only a drink, but It is also a lifestyle, and it's a habit that people have taken very seriously. People usually need a cup or two to get up in the morning.

Previous studies, however, have said that caffeine addiction is not pretty. Take a look at the arguments on coffee through the centuries; the news on coffee has not always been positive. Almost all of us often hear that excess coffee consumption is harmful to health.

But... There is good news for coffee drinkers. Many coffee addicts who are very fond of coffee will be relieved after knowing this. According to two recent studies greater consumption of coffee leads to a longer life. One study surveyed more than five hundred thousand people in ten European countries and found that more consumption of coffee could significantly lower the risk of mortality. The second study focused on non-white populations. After surveying over the two hundred thousand Native Americans, African-Americans, Hawaiians, Japanese-American people, the researchers found that coffee can increases the longevity of life across various races.

Researchers suggest people to increase their consumption of coffee from three to five cups in a day, though the five cups of coffee really sounds extreme. But do you know that five cups in a day can save you from having hepatocellular cancer? That means if you drink five cups of coffee a day, then this habit can save you from liver cancer.

A small cup of coffee can increase productivity at work. Almost half of the U.S. workers agree that if they go to work without coffee, they are less productive. It is also reported in the research that caffeine-free coffee has a positive effect on health, but its effect is less than caffeinated coffee. There are so many benefits of drinking coffee as coffee is rich in antioxidants and also helps to lower the risk of cancer, heart attacks, and diabetes.

Researchers have shown that moderate consumption of coffee can be associated with many benefits like:

  • Reduction of the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Can reduce the chances of liver cancer by up to 50%.
  • Drinking coffee also lowers liver enzyme levels.
  • It helps to increase athletic endurance.

According to another survey, drinking coffee can contribute to ramp up your productivity at work — and here are two reasons why:

Helps You To Learn Things Faster

It helps you to learn new things faster. There’s a reason college campuses are home to numerous coffee shops. It’s because coffee is fuel for our brain and it helps us to work over time and learn quickly. If you are working in a hectic environment and you can't stop learning then you need a cup of coffee.

The study states that two hundred milligrams dose of caffeine prods the brain and helps to identify words and phrases more quickly. The psychologists behind the research gave a caffeine and lactose pills to healthy subjects. Those who take caffeine were able to tell more rapidly whether a sequence of letters made an exact word or a made-up word. Whether you are preparing for an exam or trying to be the master of new skills, then coffee can help you.

                   Helps You Stay More Alert

Caffeine contained in coffee does not wake you up. It just puts a halt in that main compound which makes us feel sleepy. A substance named as adenosine builds up in the body throughout the day which lowers the energy level of our body, and in turn promotes sleepiness. When you drink coffee in the morning, you still might be feeling tired because the adenosine is still leftover in your body. But gradually caffeine helps to block your brain’s adenosine receptors.

When you want to concentrate on an important project at the office, then you can heighten your focus by drinking a cup of coffee. That will help you to sort out the most complicated issues of the day and keep you refresh and alert.

Tea over coffee, all day, everyday

hahahaha

i don't drink at all. i use it only when needed to stay up at night and it work way better on me then for others. its receptor science. more you drink more receptors develop so more coffee you need.

Yeah, coffee can be really energising!! Don't know if I could drink 4-5 cups though. That would make me hyper active!! LOL

Lol, I would recommend you to drink tea. because we can't handle you after your 5 cups. hahahaha

This is a good article for coffee lovers such as me, I'm not the extreme addict at most in a day I drink two mugs of coffee, there are many + for the health and attentiveness for work.

Yep even that's healthier too

I love it when people say nice things about coffee! I usually have one coffee in the morning, while the afternoon one is so big it can count as either two or three, depending on the coffee machine I use. Sadly, it is night right now and the cups on my desk are empty! :(

Go to your kitchen and make it again, I never get lethargic for my cup coffee, because it's the key of my activeness. :)

None for me! I'm a tea drinker, which is said to actually have more caffeine in it! Very good post! Much love, @sweetpea

Yep, you are right. Nowadays people are more attracted towards tea than coffee, Tea is also an addiction.

When I was younger, I drank coffee regularly. I liked the rush of attentiveness, but didn't like being caught in the trap of an up and down cycle, making me dependent on having it at the same time each day. I switched to tea, which I liked better because it had the same effect, only milder. Then I stopped drinking both of them and I reached a better balance than before. Later, I added kombucha, which I think is the ideal drink for me.

But I still love the taste of coffee and will have a sip occasionally. I also walk into coffee shops, take a deep breath of the wonderful aromas, and then walk out again, recharged and having spent no money. :)

But now you can start your coffee again because studies prove that its help you to live longer. Being a Pharmacist I also recommend you. You can drink one or two cups in a day. :)

It's good for some, but not for everyone.

i drink at least one cup a day but usually more like 3 or 4 on average haha
