The first major mistake we will focus on doesn't even deal with eating or not eating but rather is a lack of sleep. Sleeping too little has been shown to increase appetite and increase the levels of the hormone cortisol. This hormone can make losing weight very difficult. Getting enough sleep is vital to a successful diet.
Another major mistake is that we are drinking too many calories. While we are so focused on what we are eating and not eating we totally disregard how the drinks are giving us calories we don't need. The sugar sweetened sodas and alcoholic beverages can have up to 180 calories per serving. These drinks are really negating all the hard work that is being done elsewhere during the diet.
Dieting without exercise is a mistake we see regularly and one of the most easy to correct. With just as little as a morning stroll or post work walk we can make huge strides in losing even more weight. Whether it be a slow treadmill session or a high-intensity cardio Zumba workout, anything helps. Exercising will also give us more energy and make us feel better leading to a higher morale to keep the dieting going.
The final major mistake we will focus on is skipping breakfast. Way too many people think that rushing off to work and not eating breakfast will help their diets because they will take in less calories but on the contrary they are hurting themselves over and over. By skipping breakfast our body starts to break down muscle for energy to get its nutrients. This in turn destroys our body's ability to burn calories throughout the day.
