Is medical advice really 'fat shaming'?

Hey, it sucks you had an inoperable cancer and died. Although, it was probably the chemo treatment that really killed you. This obituary (real or not) is being used to push a much bigger (no pun intended) agenda to normalize unhealthy lifestyles. But, I'll cover that in a later post. With this post I just want to address the bs in this article.

When medical professionals are telling you to lose weight, it's because it's bad for your health. Being that it is there profession, this is a no brainer. It has nothing to do with "woman of size" which, lets be honest, it's fat people. They're not talking about the underweight bulimic women, are they? Of course not, that's all their fault they are too skinny, but not yours for being fat right?

"The researchers discovered that, for every 10 years the women were overweight during adulthood, their risk for all obesity-related cancers increased by 7%. Meanwhile, the risk for postmenopausal breast cancer went up by 5%, and the risk for endometrial cancer went up by 17%. Additionally, how much the women were overweight played a significant role in their cancer risk." source

No one is saying it is. It's just an obvious first step to feeling better and being healthier.

Now I know a little bit about Newfoundland because my wife is from there and I've been there 3 times. It's likely that the nearest hospital was probably an hour away. She likely didn't go to the hospital very often. Like they said it in the article, it wasn't til the sister took an interest, that she got the proper testing done.

Most (not all) Newfies aren't overly knowledgeable when it comes to health/healthy eating. Also, healthy food is expensive and newfs are poor (many on welfare). But had this woman listened to physician's HEALTH (NOT SIZE) advice. Eliminating that (obvious) health factor would have made it easier to diagnose other health issues sooner.

Promoting healthy lifestyles is not "fat shaming" this is a strawman fallacy used to detract from the real issues of unhealthy lifestyles. If you are a happy fat person, your size issues won't even get to you. But the truth of the matter is, that most fat people are miserable, depressed people (that is a fact).

They are not the only people who are unhealthy and unhappy. But, you can't expect the world to move around you (again no pun intended), ignoring the fact that it is your choices that are causing your problems. Is on you! And Normalizing these unhealthy lifestyles is not the answer.

What does their euphemisms have to do with the health of the patient? Not to mention, there's much worse things they could have used to describe their obese patients. But I digress.

You know why they avoid it, because they know what they need to do to fix the problem. By avoiding the doctor's they can ignore that issue they don't want to deal with. They are overwhelmed by the problem. But, it's a problem they need to deal with, to save their lives. Being overweight will kill you overtime, go to any old folks home and try to find a fat person. It's unlikely you will, because they have all died long before.

That would be a very bad idea. Not surprising of course that they would try to lump it in with a legitimate (genetic) disability. Fat people don't need protection, they need health positive encouragement. If they don't want to well, I would suggest a thicker skin for one. Because it is your choice. What is it like 2%? That might have a genetic claim for their obesity issues. But not the majority.

I have to agree here, weight loss isn't the only solution. You could starve yourself and lose weight, but that wouldn't fix the problem. Learning to eat healthy, properly portion meals along with daily physical activity is the key. Also, improving ones gut biome with probiotic rich foods and drinks goes a long way.

But where you're wrong is this #BodyPostiveMovement crap. It should be a #HealthPostiveMovment to teach all the forementioned tips. Not just to overweight people, but to people of all weights.
