The Twins Survive Sickness & A Month Without DaddysteemCreated with Sketch.

Well, we've made it over a month now without @ironmanmatt here! It's a relief knowing that we've passed one major milestone. I feel like we can tackle another month now.

Matt's photobook arrived not too long ago. Squirt was fascinated by it! We looked through it ... and this was her favorite page:

It's one of her favorite books to read now.

I've been off Steemit for two weeks, but it wasn't for lack of trying. The twins got sick. Well, Squirt got sick first. She came down with a fever last Tuesday night. It went away but came back after a day and a half. Another two nights and it broke for good.

For a week though she didn't sleep well, waking up every hour throughout the night. Of course, that meant Mommy didn't sleep well either. I was exhausted ... the days were filled with round-the-clock care. And no relief. This was probably the hardest part of single parenting so far. It's tough not having anyone else who can rock the baby while you catch a few minutes of sleep.

After her fever broke, Squirt got congested and had trouble breathing at night. Five days in, Squish came down with a fever. Thankfully, I knew what to expect and that made it a little easier. Her sickness was almost identical to her sisters. She's still getting over the congestion, but Squirt seems almost back to normal.

Looking back, it's all a blur of crying, taking temperatures, and trying to figure out how to keep them comfortable. I'm not sure how we made it through ... and I don't think I can handle another round of sickness without Matt. That just means I'm going to have to be extra careful where we go ... and who touches them.

I wish people would be more considerate about not touching or holding babies if they've been sick recently. Since I'm by myself and trying to manage both girls, it's easy for people to pick one up before I can ask them not to. And I don't really want to grill everyone ...

"When was the last time you were sick?"

"Have you washed your hands ... and face ... and do you have a face mask you can wear?"

:D Yeah, a little overboard. I thought so.

Anyway, that's my vent. These girls are still awfully cute even when they're sick and haven't slept well in a week. (I wish I could say the same for myself! lol)

Welcome back @helenoftroy.

I'm sorry to hear the girls got sick but I am happy you made it through and that both of them are almost completely better now.

Make sure to catch up on your sleep.. that's important!

Thanks so much @chrisrice! Definitely trying to catch up on sleep ... and eating lots of fruits and veggies to stay well. I had a sore throat for a couple days, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse :)

I'm glad you are getting better too @helenoftroy and I know that @ironmanmatt would be by your side if it were possible. Btw, it's a nice photobook!

Helen,

So sorry the girls were sick! Glad they are getting better!

Wow, they are growing! It has been a month or three.... since I was online on Steemit last, and they have really been growing! So cute too!

Keep posting! You are doing much better than me.... missing two weeks is small potatoes. And I don't plan to start up again anytime soon. Maybe this winter as I have more free time then.

Take care and God bless!

Thanks @public-eye! Good to see you again :) It's crazy how fast the girls are changing and growing. Sometimes I can see differences over just a couple days. Hope you are doing well!

I was so worried about you I even tried to contact you on discord. I was not able to find you there though :( Are the girls okay now? How about you? Tia also came down with a flu just before her birthday that we even had to postpone her vaccination for 3 weeks because of it. Thankfully she is better now. I hope you and the girls are too. It was such an imperfect time for you with Matt being away. Catching cold from others is truly a nuisance (Tia got hers from our neighbor). No matter how careful we are, these things still happen. It's too bad I'm too far to help out with the girls. Take care please and I hope you are now (with the girls) getting enough sleep.

Awww, thanks so much @filnette! I'm "on" discord technically, but I never actually take time to check it :( Thanks for trying to check on me though! We're doing better now. How was Tia's party and baptism? I'll have to check out your blog to see if you posted about it ...

I thought I was catching up on sleep, but over the last two days, I've realized how exhausted I was. Thankfully the girls are sleeping better through the night and I've even been able to catch a couple naps!! :D

Hi @helenoftroy. It's nice to know that you and the girls are getting enough (atleast) rest. You never know how tired you are until you finally get to have some rest. And from there, your body still yearns for a lot more. But I hope all three of you will recover fully.

As for Tia's birthday and baptism, the event turned out okay. I got sick unfortunately the next day. Probably from the previous cold that did not really heal that fully and from the exhaustion of the event. But I'm all better know thankfully.

Please send my kisses to the girls :)

So sorry to hear you were sick! I'm glad you're feeling better now though. You're totally right ... still in the wanting more sleep stage. The girls are sleeping well through the night and taking good naps again, so that helps a lot!

I know you'll fully recover in no time at all. Just take it easy please. The girls only have you for now so we can't risk having you sick. Kisses to Squish and Squirt please. 😘😘

Hey!

No fun. But don't fuss too much....for most bugs, once they have it, they are protected. And trying to prevent it can mean a weaker immune system later.

Wow...haha...easy for me to say, right!? Lol.

Nevermind the two week break, I'm glad you havent dissapeared into the ether!

Virtual hugs!!!!

Peace

Haha, thanks @em3! I've been telling the bugs they can come work on their immune systems when Matt gets back ... we'll see if they listen :P

Looks like you've been enjoying some fresh air and green grass over the past few weeks! Wish we could take you up on one of your packages ... maybe if they're still available in a year :D

Happy to hear from you even when the 'healthy-home' has been hit by illness.

Much love for you and those little ones!

Thanks, @healthy-home! Glad to be feeling healthy again!
