No Operation Red Nose service in Hearst this year

For the first time in over 20 years, Operation Red Nose will not be available in Hearst during the holidays.

The organizers cancel the service this year, citing a lack of volunteers.

After a lot of thinking and trying every avenue available to find volunteers, we ran out of resources and decided to cancel the 2019 campaign , says coordinator Marie-Louise Groleau.

The local committee was to sign this month its intentions to the national body.

The escort service was canceled in Kingston last year , also due to a lack of volunteers.

Ms. Groleau mentioned that only one youth organization had shown interest in participating in the campaign this year.

Unfortunately an organism is not enough. There are usually three who will provide evening teams to help fill the need for volunteers , says Groleau.

The groups share the proceeds of the campaign.

We do not exclude the possibility of a return in 2020 , adds Ms. Groleau.

Sponsored by the Hearst Rotary Club, the campaign was held for a 21st year last year.
