Pleasing God with the heart: The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. Psalm 6:9

Psalm 6 is a plea to the Lord that teaches us that we cannot ask for or obtain any blessing from above, if we do not know what it means to please God from the heart. Pleasing God means holiness.
God is the wisest being in creation, and he, for a logical matter, cannot lie nor can he go against his own wisdom. If wisdom does not guide our hearts, a spiritual dialogue with the Lord is not possible, we cannot connect with God from our passions like pride or vanity, exacerbated desires, or personal egoism. Wisdom as a spiritual gift is the love of virtue and truth, and as science it is the knowledge of the correct means to live.
When Solomon, after being crowned king of Israel, met God in a dream, in the sacred place of Gabaon, the King asked God for wisdom after the Lord offered to grant him a wish. Solomon deeply pleased God because the King unselfishly asked for the ability to establish justice and happiness in his nation.
Psalm 6 is used in the Book of Psalms frequently as the prayer of a sick person who asks God for relief from their ailments. And the Psalm teaches us that before anything else, in order to address ourselves to the Lord, we must humbly recognize his greatness departing from our miseries with devotion.
With these words the Psalm begins, pleading for the mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) of the Lord:
"Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint;
heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.
My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, LORD, how long?
Turn, LORD, and deliver me;
same me because of your unfailing love.
Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?" Psalm 6:2-5.
The Psalm ends by teaching us that those who please the Lord and obtain his favor are those who avoid the path of sin, and approach him with fear:
"Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the LORD has heard my weeping.
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;
the LORD accepts my prayer" Psalm 6:8-9.
