The way to spiritual perfection: Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. Psalm 86:11

Psalm 86 is a prayer of supplication, where God's help is asked for times of difficulty. And within this song of devotion, where the psalmist trusts in the goodness and mercy of God, there is a special request:
"Teach me your way, LORD,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.", Psalm 86:11

An undivided heart is a wise and understanding heart, what the psalmist essentially asks is to be wise as God is wise: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.", Matthew 5:48. And the psalmist asks for the spiritual gifts of knowledge, wisdom and good discernment with a very precise purpose, to know the way and the designs of God ("Oh Father, you rule everything with Providence", Wisdom 14:3), and also to be a faithful devotee.
The psalmist recognizes something very important, the unity of the will, that is, the unity of the heart, is an indispensable requirement for spiritual enlightenment and perfection, and to receive the blessings of God established in Deuteronomy 28, which are the blessings of obedience.
There is nothing more important in difficult situations than asking God for wisdom (wisdom is precision and accuracy, and also progressivity), the Bible explains it: "Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good ", Ecclesiastes 9:13-18; "Wisdom is better than strength: and a wise man is better than a strong man", Wisdom 6:1; "Wisdom is even better when you have money. Both are a benefit as you go through life. Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life.", Ecclesiastes 7:11-12.
God is faithful, but the believer must respond with that same fidelity and with that trustful surrender to his mercy to receive the most precious gift of God, his wisdom, his very essence and substance.
