Moses and the covenant: The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants. Deuteronomy 30:6

In one of his speeches in the Book of Deuteronomy the prophet Moses spoke on the topic of the divine grace, and how that grace is the source of all blessings for man.
Because if the law is taken literally with a heart of stone, only deception and oppression remain. In a certain sense, the Book of Deuteronomy also spoke of the need of that new man renewed from above, to fulfill a spiritual purpose, to know God with a new mind and a new heart, a theme also mentioned by the apostle Paul in his epistles. The prophet Moses in his speeches did not ignore the problem of evil and man's inclination towards error, the Decalogue with its norms is a reminder of this issue.
And this need of man renewed by God is observed with great clarity in the trial of Susanna in the Book of Daniel (Daniel 13:1-64), in front of a large group of judges who could not correctly discern the facts, only the prophet Daniel who had a heart of flesh, inspired by God, could find the truth, save Susanna, and please God.
Because the law, the covenant, contains within itself promises of blessing and curse, and in order to bless, God needs a sincere conversion of the minds and hearts, that is why the law itself contains a warning to fidelity: "If you and your descendants will turn back to the LORD and with all your heart obey his commands that I am giving you today, then the LORD your God will have mercy on you" Deuteronomy 30:2.
That is why Moses spoke of the perfection of the law, a perfection that comes from the heart, a perfection that is beyond the forces of man and that comes from God, without the grace the law is useless:
"The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live" Deuteronomy 30:6.
