That's what it's all abouts. It is Yom Teruah as of the new moon.
I have been enjoying another day of rest as I watch the festivities in Israel at the wall. There are trumpet blasts and singing late into the night as the Mitzvah (command) to blow the Shofar is put into practice this evening.

No. Out of all of the divine appointments (Moedim) that the Creator gave to Israel, this is the only one that starts at the sighting of the new moon.
That means if it is cloudy the hodiday starts the next day.

Rosh Hashanah, literally meaning the "head [of] the year", is the Jewish New Year. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah, literally "day of shouting or blasting".- WikiI didn't know about this date before!
