The ancient language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis #15

in hebrew •  6 years ago  (edited)

Welcome back to my DTube Hebrew reading & language series.

The full study is now on line covering the Alef-Beyt here in my blog. This is a beginners program to teach letters, vowels, and reading. The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on what a word is and how it is pronounced. The confusion is obvious in the hundreds of interpretations globally. In modern Hebrew, only children need a niqqud or vowel marking for each letter. Old manuscripts also usually have vowels marked.

This week - Genesis 1:30-31

This ends Genesis 1 according to the chapter and verse numbers added in the sixteenth century. Prior to that time, you would be reading on about the most important thing He did, the part he wants us to remember about creation, to rest as he rested and keep the day set apart to Him. Shabbat Shalom!

This week, the scriptures repeat that all of the fruit trees and seed bearing plants will be food. He said ha adam (man) would eat these things. This week he repeats what food will be eaten by all beasts, birds and creeping things, again, trees and plants. That is a reminder of the original intention for our diet. Meat comes later when Noah exits the ark and animals rightly start fearing man.

endgenesis.jpg

When the Father looked at all he had made, he said it was tov m'ode or "Very Good."

If it were not for the verse and chapter numbers, you would see that Genesis one kind of ends mid sentence.

Paraphrase

I made these creatures and determined what their food would be, I looked and it was very good at the end of the sixth day, SO all was done and I took the day off, rested, and blessed the seventh day and made it holy.

Instead of SO, someone came along about 450 years ago and placed a giant "2" there to separate things.

Definitions:

Blessed: to kneel and give a gift

To make Holy: to set apart, or differentiate

On the seventh day, YHVH gave a gift which was a new kind of day. One day of rest and reflection to remember what he had done.

This definitely adds a little context to the way I was told the exodus story, I can’t wait to have a greater understanding of more of the text.@resteem

Being Following you over the time and have learnt the past lesson in learning this Ancient language but never commented on your post but would like to say as this is the new beginning and you shared the Video on dtube this was very helpful to me you slowly read that which help me to learn visually and the pronunciation helped me really nicely

In the Order of Melchi-Zedek ... King of Righteousness.... Melchi=King and Zedek = Righteousness.jpg

First of all, I want to thank you for starting my comment because you are an important person who posted blogs about proper and proper knowledge of Hebrew language. From the very beginning he took important steps in the Hebrew community, which has played a very important role, and the members of this region Acquire knowledge about Hebrew language You have taken some good steps in praise, which are worth appreciating 😊

Mr. You have first presented the contents of the Hebrew language here in front of each and every member of the community and I think that every member of this community and everyone in this community has developed appropriate knowledge and creative talent in your Hebrew language because of the Hebrew language you are here. Specifies each content very accurately.

For example I write a word below ✍️

היוצר הגדול יצר את כולנו והוא מוקיר אותנו בתשומת לב רבה, אנחנו אסירי תודה לאל הגדול

I mean here that the great creator has created us and he is caring for us with utmost care, we are grateful to the great creator.

In that case, you analyze the content with just the right kind of care, where each person is very well informed about the important blog post on your Hebrew language, and I thank you for all the important creative presentations you are presenting and doing 🙂

There's so much more that you can get out of the text if you look at the meaning of specific words, rather than just the paraphrase or "thought-for-thought" translations that we have today. It's interesting the impact that one word can have on the passage if you translate it differently.

I think it's kinda funny that we put the chapter and verse marking in there. It makes it easier to read, but I wonder how I would feel if I wrote my wife a long letter and than realized that someone had added chapters and verses. Yes, maybe it would make sense, but that's not how I intended it. It's also strange when you think about how sometimes a single verse will be preached on while ignoring the context.

When I stop to think about it, it's amazing that we have records for those days. The fact they haven't been destroyed or adulterated beyond recognition is surprising, but I'm glad we have a fairly accurate representation. Not sure if it will stay that way as things are changing rapidly, but having the truth and following it are two different things.

True. I actually came into Hebrew years ago after reading several English translations and listening to people argue about this or that English word. Then they would break out the concordance and argue about the Greek!

Now having looked over key passages in the well over 70 popular English interpretations, I find very few things out of place on my fifth time through (this time in the original language).

Your comments always are always welcome! I do see your loyalty every week. Thanks.

It must be very helpful for you to go back to the original texts and read from that as it removes room for confusion.

I actually have missed a few weeks of commenting, but I do appreciate your posts. I have you on my SteemAuto, so when I see that it voted for you, I remember to check out your post. Otherwise, it can be easy to miss it.

I think I said it before, but I've been having a rough go of things recently, so it's made it more difficult to joyfully enter into reading the Word or doing quiet time. You're one of my Steemit friends and I want to support you, so I read your posts. They are one way that I'm able to engage, so thanks for that. Every little bit helps. :)

New science is again for me from the best teacher right now for me. Well, I can not say much because I am still the first stage of learning about this Hebrew language. I do not really understand but I will keep trying to understand it. Greet my teacher @hebrew

the most anticipated language classes with professor @hebrew, increasingly interesting this series of readings, I hope to continue learning to have a greater understanding of the digital Bible that you gave us for free. Thank you for continuing to teach us.

I have a passion for languages (I speak 5 of them), and I always wanted to learn to speak and write Mandarin.

This one looks really interesting, too.

But, it looks really hard.

Lots of signs look alike.

I cover look alike letters as I go through the teaching of each letter. There is a link in each post on how to start from the beginning.

I will download the hebrew bible now and thank you so much for this lessons and I will also do my homework to know more about this language.

Long live hebrew.

Shabbat Shalom

I appreciate your comments and support over the weeks and months. Every language seems hard at first, but then you see ways in which the new language makes sense and it becomes much easier.

This is so detailed the fact that the video had the verse's translation I could tell what they sounded like every time I hear words that are the same just like you have the earth and the earth in the screen of the video, wow this is beautiful, I'm glad it started with this verse in genesis, although I'm still learning basically without the arrows I'm catching up, I'm glad your methods even make it quite easier for me.

Comenzamos el fín de semana , con estas excelentes lecciones , gracias @hebrew, por tus post de calidad.

Me gustan tus lecciones de cada semana!!! Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos!!!

This is the Hebrew of Genesis the very beginning of the Bible. It is pronounced be-re-SHIYT ba-RA eh-lo-HIYM and is usually translated "In the beginning God created. The first word (reading right-to-left) is be-re-SHIYT. It is from the Hebrew root resh-aleph-shin, meaning "head, start, beginning," with the preposition bet on the front, meaning "in, on, at." So this word could be translated "in beginning" or "at start" or "at the head." The Hebrew name for the Jewish holiday Rosh HaShanah is from this same root, and means "head of the year" or "beginning of the year" -- Ha is the definite article "the" and Shanah is "year." The second word is ba-RA, meaning create, shape or fashion. It is from the Hebrew word bet-resh-aleph.
So a word-for-word translation might be "in-beginning created God

In Hebrew the word order does not specify the person taking action (subject). The usual order is verb + subject + et + object (receiver of the action).

You did get the word for word translation correct!

A wonderful lesson and very informative video, from which I once again learned for myself the continuation of the Holy Scripture in Hebrew, which is for me the most ancient and sacred language! Thanks for your work @hebrew Shabbat Shalom

Thank you for this new lesson friend, it is a great contribution for those of us who are interested in this language. The language of the people chosen by God and in which the word of God was originally written!

Hebrew, any member of an ancient northern Semitic people that were the ancestors of the Jews. Biblical scholars use the term Hebrews to designate the descendants of the patriarchs of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)—i.e., Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (also called Israel [Genesis 33:28])—from that period until their conquest of Canaan (Palestine) in the late 2nd millennium BCE. Thenceforth these people are referred to as Israelites until their return from the Babylonian Exile in the late 6th century BCE, from which time on they became known as Jews.

Tanakh is an acronym of the first Hebrew letter of each of the Masoretic Text's three traditional subdivisions: Torah ("Teaching", also known as the Five Books of Moses), Nevi'im ("Prophets") and Ketuvim ("Writings")—hence TaNaKh.
