The ancient language of ibrit - GimelsteemCreated with Sketch.

in hebrew •  7 years ago  (edited)

Like the Alfabet, The letters in Hebrew are called the Alef - Beyt They are presented on my blog from bottom to the top so you can learn them order, then to read them right to left. You will see what the original "Bible" said and what the names meant as they went through the stories of old.

Here is Gimel: Symbolizing a camel

It's the third letter. It is a consonant . It is also the number 3 when used as a number.

  • The sound this letter makes when pronounced is just like a "G"

gimel.jpg

The original way of writing this letter Looked kind of like a camel. But instead I would like to show you a new word you can learn which includes our next letter (Dalet)

There is s new vowel called a Segol - those are the three dots under the Vet and the Gimel. Represented in English they could be Bay Gay

The circled letter isn the next one in the alef-beyt - it's a Dalet and it make a 'D" sound

All togehter, the word below could be said baygaid, begeyd - either way, it means "Garment" in Hebrew

garment.jpg

  • You now have tree letters (four if you count Dalet) and you have three vowels you can understand.

I hope to work on my penmanship and to add meaning to these little lessons each Shabbath as we go. Then we can read together with the vowel points in place and see how it all jives with English.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

You are back! Also waited for gimel like I spoiled it in the Bet and Vet post. I hope you post every Shabbath from now on as you said :)

wow ... one upvote from @done that is so amazing.

I don't know @done but he does gravitate toward this kind if content. Taking a look at who he follows- I guess you he likes pure Bible only - if I had to name it. I hope he keeps visiting this old relic

how do i repay your kindness @hebrew and i will expand your post by way of make your name and link in my post, again thank you very much to @hebrew, @done, @bcc, and all that is here, hopefully health and safety always accompanies you all ... thanks

Nice post

Yes. . Good luck

maybe it's just your feelings friends and others who can judge your writing @hebrew

There are s many styles of writing in Hebrew. Once you learn the basic way, you can read everything to ancient parchments (my particular interest). Cursive is another thing altogether. I used to make notes in cursive and now I can't make heads nor tails of them. . .

Thank you for your support and comments for an old guy. Booster and a couple of others voters have been voting on my posts. If you vote after them, I think it helps you a lot.

thanks a lot my best friend @hebrew 👍👍

I know friend, maybe you lack focus when writing or make it, whether you are having trouble in your work @hebrew

Yes friends. . I think so. . We follow your next post.

I lost my best quill and theise markers don't form the Hebrew as well real quills do.

I correctly understood, you use natural quills? From birdies? Our birds would gladly give you a suitable quill! :)

whether the tool becomes a problem in your writing today friends and hopefully your next post can be more perfect friend and success is always for you @hebrew

yes, good luck my friend @hebrew 👍👍

Thank you very much

Cool! Is Hebrew used in everyday communication In Israel?

The kind I teach is more ancient - more poetic with many spiritual meanings embedded. Every day Hebrew is something I will learn after finishing the Hebrew Scriptures - called the "Tanakh"

YES! A new letter! :D It's really nice, you explain it really nicely. And one letter at the time is really efficient to learn. I'm sure to remember it now! "Dgalet" ;-)

@hebrew,
I had a friend from Israel! We talked a lot, our cultures and most of the things we talked! He told me "HEBREW" is the world one of the oldest language and it's "the language of universe"!
Today I found you, I am glad to say I decided to follow you too!
"Here is Gimel: Symbolizing a camel", you mean 3rd letter! I got it! And now I started my learning process!
Thank you friend!

Cheers~

Thank you for replying, I don't live in the the Holy Land but plan to visit one day. I have taught English and Spanish professionally, so I hope to present Hebrew in an understandable fashion too.

@hebrew,
That's what I was thinking too! Most of Israel people are not very fluent in English! Thank for sharing your great knowledge with us! Really appreciate that effort!
