The ancient language of ivrit ( עברית ) - Tsade

in hebrew •  7 years ago  (edited)

Like the Alphabet, The letters in Hebrew are called the Alef - Beyt and they are presented on my blog from bottom to the top so you can learn them order, then to read them right to left. You will see what the original "Bible" said and what the names meant as they went through the stories of old.

This letter is known by two names, Tsade comes from the verb to hunt, and symbolizes a "fish hook" and the other name for this letter is Tsadik which means "righteous"

It is the eighteenth letter. It is a consonant . Tsade is also the number 90, The sofit form is 900

They both are pronounce "ts" as in the word "lets" but the hard part is when it starts a word.

Yeshua has many titles, one of which is The Righteous One pronounced "Ha Tsadik"

treeoflife.jpg

I am uploading this line from Gen 2:9 to dsound.audio - reading each word right to left.
(two times each word first fast then slowly)

(if anyone knows a good embed code - post in the comments.)

Where we are so far

source

Only 4 more letters and you will be reading! Well, there are many you can read already.

Let's also start studying our vowels. There are five sounds for them.

Here is a chart.

  • the square represents any letter.
  • the vowels are positioned as they would be in a written word.
  • there are five lines of vowels - five sounds

On the left a word that contains the vowel sound

00feddfc-2f5c-4661-a317-e02fcab6bea7.jpg

On the right a representation of that sound.

They are nearly the same as in Spanish and in the same order!

I have to say that there are slight differences - one might be a little longer than the one next to it, but the sound is the same. There are also combinations that may extend the sound of a vowel. I will leave this chart on the next seven lessons as we go through more letters.

We will soon be reading so get your Hebrew Bible soon! Click here to obtain the book we will using in a few short weeks. It is a free download - or browser usable

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Hebrew Words with the letter Tsade.... STRUGGLE(Verb): The act of trying to achieve the goal, but with hindrances. Hebrew: נצה .... nTsH. And it is said that the Word Israel means "One who struggled with God". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_wrestling_with_the_angel

In the Torah portion, Vayishlah,

Jacob wrestles all night with a mysterious angel representing God.Because Jacob successfully survives this encounter, his name is changed to Israel. The translation of Israel is “to struggle with God”. The Torah is saying that to struggle with God is common. Most people require inquiry and study, as adults, to come to terms with their personal encounter. We are encouraged intellectually to encounter God within ourselves after studying the word of God and wrestling our sages encountered in their journeys to God. It is possible to be good and have questions about God.

In the Order of Melchi-Zedek ... King of Righteousness.... Melchi=King and Zedek = Righteousness

Who is the Mysterious Melhizadek ?

Hebrews 7: Melchizedek the Priest

"This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “King of Righteousness”; then also, “King of Salem” means “King of Peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever."

Gen 14:18 And Malchizedek the king of Salem brought out bread and wine, and he was a priest to the Most High God. יחוּמַלְכִּי־צֶ֨דֶק֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ שָׁלֵ֔ם הוֹצִ֖יא לֶ֣חֶם וָיָ֑יִן וְה֥וּא כֹהֵ֖ן לְאֵ֣ל עֶלְיֽוֹן:

Tzadik/Zadik/Sadiq [tsaˈdik] (Hebrew: צדיק‎, "Righteous one", pl. tzadikim [tsadiˈkim] צדיקים ṣadiqim) is a title given to people considered Righteous, such as Biblical figures and later Spiritual Masters. The root of the word ṣadiq, is ṣ-d-q (צדק tzedek), which means "Justice" or "Righteousness".

Tzadik is also the root of the word tzedakah ('charity', literally 'righteousness'). The term tzadik "Righteous", and its associated meanings, developed in Rabbinic thought from its Talmudic contrast with hasid ("Pious" Honorific), to its exploration in Ethical literature, and its esoteric spiritualisation in the Mystical Tradition.

Since the late 17th century, in Hasidic Judaism, the institution of the Mystical Tzadik as a divine channel assumed central importance, combining popularization of (hands-on) Jewish mysticism with social movement for the first time. Adapting former Kabbalistic theosophical terminology, Hasidic thought internalised mystical experience, emphasising deveikut attachment to its Rebbe leadership, who embody and channel the Divine flow of blessing to the world .... After reading some of your comments, I noticed that you said you learned Hebrew from scratch? That's awesome! If i wasn't a native Hebrew speaker, I would probably quit trying after an hour. It's one of the hardest languages ever.
תודה על השיתוף, עוקב אחריך באדיקות מעכשיו. שיהיה שבוע נפלא :)
אגב, אתה מישראל?

In Israel Yeshua is often called Yeshu(a) ha Notzri .... from the Hebrew Word Ne·tzer
ne·tser (נֵ֫צֶר, n-ts-r), pronounced Nay'·TseR, meaning "branch", "flower", or "offshoot". Derived from na·tsar.

St Jerome (c. 347 – 420) linked "Nazarene" to a verse in the Book of Isaiah, claiming that "Nazarene" was the Hebrew reading of a word scholars read as ne·tzer (branch). נֵ֫צֶר,

The text from Isaiah is:

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch (נֵ֫צֶר,) shall grow out of his roots.

ve·ya·tza cho·ter mig·ge·za yi·shai ve·ne·tzer mi·sha·ra·shav yif·reh.

In ancient Hebrew texts, vowels were not indicated, so a wider variety of readings was possible in Jerome's time. Here branch/Nazarene is metaphorically "descendant" (of Jesse, father of King David). Eusebius, a 4th-century Christian polemicist, also argued that Isaiah was the source of "Nazarene." This prophecy by Isaiah was extremely popular in New Testament times and is also referred to in Romans and Revelation.

Fantastic !

Very useful lesson you introduce @hebrew. This language came from bible and ins more ancient I think. But your teaching lessons really helpful to steemians. Thanks for the effort.

@hebrew ... I love this Letter ... May we one day meet on Mount Zion

TZion (Hebrew: צִיּוֹן‎ Tsiyyon), also transliterated Sion, Sayon, Syon, Tzion or Tsion, is a placename often used as a synonym for Jerusalem. The word is first found in 2 Samuel 5:7 which dates from c. 630–540 BCE according to modern scholarship. It commonly referred to a specific hill in Jerusalem, (Mount Zion) located to the south of Mount Moriah or the Temple Mount, on which stood a Jebusite fortress of the same name that was conquered by David and was named the City of David. The hill ("mount") is one of the many squat hills that form Jerusalem, to include the Mount of Olives etc. In the past many centuries, that was the only section of Jerusalem inside city wall that was the Jewish quarter.

The term Tzion came to designate the area of Jerusalem where the fortress stood, and later became a metonym for Solomon's Temple, the city of Jerusalem and "the World to Come", the Jewish understanding of the afterlife. (Wikipedia)

In the Mystical Tradition, the more esoteric reference is made to Tzion being the spiritual point from which reality emerges, located in the Holy of Holies of the First, Second and Third Temple.

Wonderful. Wonderful.

History Tsade
The three Ancient pictograph possibilities for this letter are , and . The word tsad means "side," but is also related to the idea of a stronghold, which is often built on the side of a mountain. The pictograph is a picture of a trail as leading up to a destination or stronghold. Most ancient Semitic alphabets used pictographs which closely resemble , indicating that this was most likely the original form of the letter.

The modern name for this letter is tsade, also meaning side, and is a child root from the word tsad . The phonetic sound of this letter is a "ts" in both ancient and modern Hebrew.

The early pictograph evolved into in the Middle Semitic script and continued to evolve into in the Late Semitic Script. From the middle Semitic script came the Modern Hebrew צ and ץ. Modern Greek and Latin have no letter derived from this Semitic letter.

Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas @hebrew and let me tell you that you are making this platform special by putting articles on ivrit.

Hebrew words with the Letter Tsade : MTsVah.... מִצְוָה. : Commandment.

The feminine noun mitzvah (מִצְוָה) occurs over 180 times in the Masoretic Text of the Hebrew Bible. The first use is in Genesis 26:5 where God says that Abraham has "obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments (מִצְוֹתַי mitzvotai), my statutes, and my laws". In the Septuagint the word is usually translated with entole (ἐντολὴ). In Second Temple period funeral inscriptions the epithet phil-entolos, "lover of the commandments", was sometimes inscribed on Jewish tombs. Other words are also used in Hebrew for commands and statutes, for example the Ten Commandments (עשרת הדיברות) are the "Ten Words" (via: Wiki)

culture is unique, and has some lessons.

Awesome work @hebrew! Yes, Tsade is the 18th letter of the hebrew "ALEF-BET!"

Meaning - hook, discipline, to pull toward.

Yahusha says follow him and become fishers of men. By following the messiah you become like a fishhook gathering others in to the fold to enter the door through Yahuwah's right hand which is (Ha'Mashiach Yahusha)

The word picture for Tsadie shows this
צדי
צ - hook
ד - door
י - hand

great post @Hebrew. Always following your posts since I'm interested in the Hebrew language.

Many Arabic words are derived from Hebrew, which proves that the Jews lived long with the Arabs, and that our two languages are very close.
In fact we lived side by side without serious problems, unfortunately this is not the case today and it is a pity.
I hope that in the future all this animosity will be reabsorbed and we will be able to live in peace with our very close cousins.
