The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 2, DTube Video #6

in hebrew •  6 years ago  (edited)

Welcome back to my DTube Hebrew reading & language series.

The full study is now on line covering the Alef-Beyt here in my blog. This is a beginners program to teach letters, vowels, and reading. The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on what a word is and how it is pronounced. The confusion is obvious in the hundreds of interpretations globally. In modern Hebrew, only children need a niqqud or vowel marking for each letter. Old manuscripts also usually have vowels marked.

We are reading Genesis 2:18-20

So here is this naked man who was just created, and God's first thought was, "it is not good for the man to be alone..." What follows is the stated intention to make a helper for him. God then makes each animal and brings it to the man. Time seems to be no barrier to this experiment. The man names each animal as it is created (one view), and those are what they are called from then on.

Afterwards, it says, "but for adam, not matzah a helper" which corresponds to him. The interesting thing is the first usage of the word "matzah" that can mean "he found" or "he was found."

Obviously, the animals were already created male and female. Each animal of its kind had a corresponding mate, yet there "was found" not any for the man. This leads us into the study for next week, which is the best of the best of all creation of Elohim!

Who would not agree that one of the most complex and beautiful creations ever made was the woman. She is truly the better half of man's flesh and of his soul. He cannot be complete without her, or at best, he is of diminished potential.

A Parallel

As I read today, I picked out "matzah" as one word that reached out to me. I could not help but think of the parallel that presents itself in the broken bit of matzah that is wrapped in linen and hidden away for a time during Pesach (Passover), later to be found by one of the children, who in turn, receives a reward.

nohelperthatcorrespondstohim.jpg

The bread of life, Yeshua, was also wrapped and out of sight for a time. He was also not found when they went to look for him. He was later to be found alive and still has a reward for every soul that finds him. Further reading on these parallels can be found here.

Take note

I also wanted to point out the word "lo" which can mean no, not, do not, etc. if spelled with spelled Lamed-Aleph, or it can mean him, to him, for him, etc. if spelled Lamed-Vav. The Hebrew word does not need to change in context. The different translations are necessary to allow the right English structure, if interpreted correctly into English.

Every instance of lo is pronounced the same, just as write, right and rite sound the same but vary in spelling.

It is valuable and very useful ancient language.

This leads us into the study for next week, which is the best of the best of all creation of Elohim!

I agree with you there. Even when I'm having a difficult time understanding what is happening in the world and in my life, even when I'm discouraged about the progress that I'm making in accomplishing personal and financial goals... I can always go back and remember to be thankful for my wife. She is the most amazing person I have met, and I'm incredibly blessed that she is found to be my partner and helper. :)

Is that why they're called matzah balls? Because they hide in the broth?

Congratulations on being "completed" and staying that way. I cannot answer the question about those balls. I would guess that they are made from the actual crackers, but you can go with whatever the Spirit of El reveals to you. He is not embarrassed by his creation and the way things all work.

It's great that you teach us more about this language every week, it's great that you like it with us and of course you're constant, learning vocals, words and pronunciation on your part has already become an obligation, every week I look forward to seeing your online class, I'll never stop being grateful, and I think none of your followers will be happy either

The word that was emphasized this week was:

MATZAH: find / was found

Very well we already know

You teach us languages, you also let us know about Bible verses on this occasion, genesis we continue with creation, I did not know that man was the one who had named the animals, now I thank you, and if it is true, the woman is part of man without them feel that we lack something of us because she is part of our flesh ...

Greetings and thanks for this week's lesson @hebrew 🙌

Love to see your videos again and again thank you so much.

The Hebrew language has evolved over time. Even during the course of writing the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), Biblical Hebrew changed, which is apparent when you compare early Biblical texts with late ones.

Holding on to Biblical Hebrew: Even during the Babylonian Exile, Jewish exiles continued to use the Hebrew language. This promissory note from Al-Yahudu, also known as Judahtown, in Babylonia is inscribed with a Yahwistic name, Shelemyah, which is written in paleo-Hebrew script. Photo: Cindy and David Sofer Collection, Al-Yahudu No. 010

How was the Bible written during and after the Babylonian Exile? Did the Biblical authors continue to use the Hebrew language even though they were living in lands where Hebrew was no longer the common language? In his article “How Hebrew Became a Holy Language,” published in the January/February 2017 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, Jan Joosten explains that Biblical Hebrew did not go out of use. Rather the Jewish population continued to use it—and even attached a new reverence to it.

After Nebuchadnezzar sacked Jerusalem and deported Judahite captives to Babylonia, he settled them in cities and villages, such as Al-Yahudu (also known as Judahtown), around the River Chebar. The official language of the Babylonian Empire was Aramaic. Although the Jewish deportees communicated in Aramaic with their new neighbors, they continued to write and speak the Hebrew language in their communities, which helped them preserve a distinct identity. An archive from Al-Yahudu demonstrates this. For example, a promissory note from Al-Yahudu (see above) is inscribed with the Hebrew name Shelemyah, which contains the element “yah” that connects the name holder to his deity, Yahweh. The note is written in paleo-Hebrew script, not Aramaic cuneiform.

Wonderful videos i am loving it a lot, have a great day @hebrew.see you soon

La palabra está escrita somos nosotros los que la olvidamos en ocasiones, a través de sus lecciones podemos enriquecer nuestro conocimiento y cultivar la palabra de Dios.

This is a rare skill and i want to learn This language.your videos are awesome @hebrew.

I have been searching for Hebrew language for a long time and many of my neighbors are very interested in this content. In Russia city, we have expressed great interest in this matter, for which we have been very enthusiastic to acquire proper knowledge of Hebrew language.

Each of your blog posts, that is, you publish light blog posts in every 7 days that our neighbors in Russia are very interested in searching because you are an important person who can express ideas about the right content and you're constantly guided by the latest Hebrew language guidelines. Present that we have more Work as a representation of rhetorical roles and creative intellectual development.

I would definitely like to thank you because most of the people in Russia are able to gain knowledge about the Hebrew language, and I hope you continue the activities in the future so that I and my neighbors can properly acquire knowledge about Hebrew language.

Thank you for your comment. My respect for Russia, both the leader and the people, has grown over the last decade. Your country has shown restraint when attacked by Turkey, bombed by US forces in Syria, provoked by terrorists that were supported by the US politicians. Thank you for keeping your calm.

I believe the American people are with you and so is Israel!

Best Dtube Video thanks a lot @hebrew with out you this success cant be possible.

I miss you sir. Nice to see and listen that video lesson on ivrit language. Sir why not post twice a week instead of once a week.

Well said. Gods created better life for learning everything. Hebrew language wanna god's creation I guess. I watch Dtube video. It's nicely explained contexts. Reading and note lesson awesome. Also Parallel explain so smart.
Shabbat shalom.

the way he explains it is more accepted the interpretation is usually somewhat confusing the interpretation that was given him on the other hand God thought that man walk and find the different species in pairs I notice the loneliness of man creating in this way his perfect companion being thus one of the most beautiful and perfect creations.

But Ben-Yehuda wanted the Jews in Palestine to speak Hebrew exclusively. Therefore, when his first son, Ben-Zion Ben-Yehuda (or, as he is more commonly known, Ittamar Ben-Avi), was born in 1882, Ben-Yehuda made his first wife Deborah promise to raise the boy as the first all-Hebrew speaking child in modern history.

Beautiful lesson on hebrew word matzah and good topic on nature creature . Shabbat shalom

Thanks for the lessons, I'm very interested in learning about your language. History does not know the cases of the resurrection of the "dead language", more precisely, did not know. Since Hebrew from the "dead", in a relatively short time, has become a modern language that meets all the needs of everyday life, and is one of the decisive factors of the Jewish national revival.

"it is not good for the man to be alone..."

I believe God has thought everything through. “matzah” (he found) woman for the man.

This leads us into the study for next week, which is the best of the best of all creation of Elohim!

I’m anxious to see what’s coming next.

Gracias una vez mas por postear sobre tus conocimientos del lenguaje hebreo, muy interesante la lectura sobre el significado de las palabras, y creo que también es importante saber pronunciarlas, aunque sean un tanto difíciles.

the way he explains it is more accepted the interpretation is usually somewhat confusing the interpretation that was given him on the other hand God thought that man walk and find the different species in pairs I notice the loneliness of man creating in this way his perfect companion being thus one of the most beautiful and perfect creations.

God created mankind in our image and likeness. The idea of human dignity, that we are created in the image of God (1:27)

God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

Beautiful post i appreciate your beautiful creativity thanks for sharing this post
