The ancient language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 13

in hebrew •  7 years ago  (edited)

The full study of the Alef-Beyt is detailed here on Steemit. The first lesson is at the bottom of my blog list. Each letter is covered in detail. When you have finished learning the letters, you can begin to read with us on my Shabbat blog (Saturday post). The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on how words are pronounced, as if there is not already enough of that in all of the interpretations globally. In modern Hebrew, only children need the niqqud (vowel marking) until they have the pronunciation memorized.

This week's reading is from Exodus 13 as Pesach was celebrated last night all over the world by the children of Israel. This is not a Jewish feast for the Jews (implying that only Judah and his kids) can take part. No, it is for all who came out of Egypt and Worship the God of Israel.

Yesterday I prepared the meal and last night I was enjoying the time with family. It is now the end of Pesach (passover) which a Moed or "an appointment with God" which is to be kept forever. The Moedim are "Holy days" that are set apart to meet with Him.

We are now it the "Feast of unleavened bread" as it's called. This is a Mitzvah given by God to Mosheh (Moses). Fun fact: When a male child comes of age they throw a party called a "Bar Miszvah" meaning son of the commandment or instruction.

Last week and this week we have been derailed, first to get rid of idols, and now to talk about Pesach. Next week, at the end of seven days of unleavened bread, I plan to resume our continuous reading in Genesis.

@hebrew sir, its a thing of joy to know that there are people like you who still take as a duty that this is what we need to do which God commanded celebrating this feast, we are not celebrating ourselves,we are celebrating the mystery and the power of God.

The 7th day God rested and decree that we should honor this day and keep it holy. Am privilege to know that there are still people who remembered to bring the power of God of old to the new testament church.

People always want to celebrate the end forgetting the beginning. Because Jesus is the end of the new testament church, Jesus made it clear to us that He is the beginning and the end. To balance the equation, He is the God of Genesis and also the God of Revelation. Which signifies the old testament and the new testament.

The God of the passover, the God of unleavened bread. So when we display the act of the communion, we are displaying the act of the old and the new testament.

@hebrew, Am most delighted that you have opened the eyes of so many to know this truth.

I wish you a happy new month, a new understanding and a new Rehma.

Thank you! I saw your vote first thing and I was wondering why no comment. You were writing it. :)

Yes, I started questioning man when the man with the microphone said one thing and the Word says another. I still have to find where the Sabbath changed. Can we now lie, commit adultery and kill? Or do all ten stand?

The church I go to has an Israel ministry, songs in Hebrew, but after they are ordering pizza and selling sandwiches near the kitchen. I do not criticize so as not to cause one to fall away, but what part of do not work and do not make anyone else work is so hard to understand? No buying or selling - pretty clear.

Glad you came. I hope I can answer all the comments with equal attention but I only have an hour before bed. Shalom!

@hebrew sir!
May the spirit of wisdom and understanding continue to flow. I thank God un behalf of you for the matured heart God has given to you who does not see others fault but stands by the truth and maintain your integrity. God boasted for Job because of his integrity may God boast for you in this generation and generations to come.

I thank you for your support so far regards the upvote to my post and i thank God also for making me to know somebody like you. Knowing you has added meaning to my life and has given me strength to carry on on this platform.

As God placed Joseph above his brethren and above his master in the land of Egypt, may God always place you on top for making people know the truth about His word.

Shalom!

After reading your post i googled about "Pesach" & i learned a lot.
Passover is a spring festival which during the existence of the Temple in Jerusalem was connected to the offering of the "first-fruits of the barley", barley being the first grain to ripen and to be harvested in the Land of Israel. The Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan, which typically falls in March or April of the Gregorian calendar. Passover is a spring festival, so the 15th day of Nisan typically begins on the night of a full moon after the northern vernal equinox. However, due to intercalary months or leap months falling after the vernal equinox. In Israel, Passover is the seven-day holiday of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, with the first and last days celebrated as legal holidays and as holy days involving holiday meals, special prayer services, and abstention from work; the intervening days are known as Chol HaMoed ("Weekdays [of] the Festival").

I don't understand all of it, but I was trying to anticipate some of the sounds based on the words I know. I was wondering what the markings beneath the characters were. Now I know!

I feel like getting rid of idols and celebrating God setting His people free are both worthwhile diversions! That's what it's all about, right? Turning away from our idols and entering into relationship with God who created us. :)

Hi Respected @hebrew..!

Happy easter day.

My church senior pastor has also mentioned about the rich meaning of Hebrew language that English can never fully illustrate it. It has always been mentioned that many history of the bible are valuable lessons as well as the significance of different minor details just like having having the door painted in red where death will pass. It is like the blood of Jesus that was shed for our forgiveness of sin. I have heard about passover in Church many times. My church visits Israel every year to experience the history of the bible personally. Thanks for sharing all these!

Thanks for another great pronunciation lesson @hebrew.

That's really cool.

Thanks for coming online and sharing with us this day..

Being a student of cultural study it is my core interest to learn about different cultures and their norms around the globe. Israel has been a high place in different religions of the world. Being a sociologist it is very important to know the societal influences of the customs and as you mention it sounds that people are always very happy with such events.

We are now it the "Feast of unleavened bread" as it's called. This is a Mitzvah given by God to Mosheh (Moses). Fun fact: When a male child comes of age they throw a party called a "Bar Miszvah" meaning son of the commandment or instruction.

Since i followed you, i have learnt a few basics of this wonderful Hebrew language. I am obliged to you for giving me so much.

Peace to you @hebrew :) :)

Reading this again made me to realise that pesach is not majorly for jewish but everyone that left Egypt and obey God. This is obviously a good for thought for me.

May the goodness of God continue to dwell with you.

Today's teaching is awesome, sane with last week's.

Lesson

  1. Last week, I learnt importantly that idols should be disposed and do away with totally because Jehovah doesn't want it and He's a very jealous God
  2. This week, I learnt that Pesach means Passover and should be kept forever.
  3. Also, I got to know that Moedim are "Holy days" that are set apart to meet with God.
  4. "Feast of unleavened bread" as it's called is a commandment (MISZVAH) given to Moses for all the world

Blessed morning to you @hebrew, it's morning here in Nigeria

May God continue to bless your knowledge as you teach us new things here

Dear @Hebrew Sir, you always the good content.

Moses said to the people-“Remember this day, on which you went free from Egypt, the house of bondage, how the LORD freed you from it with a mighty hand: no leavened bread shall be eaten.
"You go free on this day, in the month of Abib.
So, when the LORD has brought you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall observe in this month the following practice: “Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a festival of the LORD.Throughout the seven days unleavened bread shall be eaten; no leavened bread shall be found with you, and no leaven shall be found in all your territory. And you shall explain to your son on that day, ‘It is because of what the LORD did for me when I went free from Egypt.’“And this shall serve you as a sign on your hand and as a reminder on your forehead—in order that the Teaching of the LORD may be in your mouth—that with a mighty hand the LORD freed you from Egypt. You shall keep this institution at its set time from year to year.

Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals of ancient Israel and commemorates the Exodus from Egypt. Its name comes from the miracle in which God “passed over” the houses of the Israelites during the tenth plague. Centered on the family or communal celebration of the seder (ritual meal), Passover is one of the most beloved of all Jewish holidays. The origins of Passover lie in pre-Israelite spring celebrations of the first grain harvest and the births of the first lambs of the season. In the Jewish context, it celebrates God’s great redemptive act at the time of the Exodus, leading the Israelites out from slavery in Egypt to freedom. Together with Shavuot (the Festival of Weeks) and Sukkot (The Festival of Booths), Passover is one of the three ancient Israelite pilgrimage festivals, during which adult males journeyed to the Temple in Jerusalem to offer sacrifices and bask in the divine presence.

Pesach / פסח
Passover (Hebrew: פֶּסַח Pesach) commemorates the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, which is in spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and is celebrated for seven or eight days. It is one of the most widely observed Jewish holidays.

Pesach begins at sundown on Fri, 30 March 2018.

Moses said to the people, “Remember this day, on which you went free from Egypt, the house of bondage, how the LORD freed you from it with a mighty hand: no leavened bread shall be eaten".

I had no idea about Alef-Beyt,from your post i have come to know something about it.You are a very religious person i can see.My good wishes with you.You always inspire me to learn something new. Thanks for sharing with us.

I am not religious. My King fought with and opposed the religious of His day and I oppose those of my day. I do not go through meaningless rituals, but rather obey the loving instructions of my Father who loves me. He tells me to take a rest on the seventh day, though I have more energy to keep working. But, I rest and contemplate all that He does for us.

Greetings @hebrew,

Apologies for joining in here......

I so appreciate your reply......as our King did indeed oppose the religion of His day.....this thought brought to mind the principle.

Religion is man seeking the approbation of God through his works.
Chrisitianity is a relationship with God through the work of Christ on the cross.

Thank you for the opportunity to think on these things.

Kind regards, bleujay and bentleycapital

I din't know that. You always post something which is about god and holy book, thats why i thought like that.
I wanna share with you an interesting history, which i think you will like.
