Canadian Heavy Metal Roots, the band Helix

I just started producing this youtube show and podcast about the history of rock 1960-2000. My first guest is Brian Vollmer from the 80's metal band, Helix. I hope you enjoy the interview.

Summary:
From humble beginnings growing up on a farm in Listowel, Ontario, to touring the world with bands like Kiss, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper, and Motörhead, for Vollmer Kitchener-Waterloo was a never a small place. Even though in the 70’s and 80’s Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario was a relatively small town, there were still a pathway to the big stage - at least for Vollmer and his band Helix there was!

During the mid 70’s the band had moderate success touring around Ontario and parts of Canada. Things started to pick up for the band in 1979 when they hired new manager, Kitchener's William Seip. Seip, who had a basement office across from Waterloo Town Square Mall, was responsible for changing the bands image from jeans-wearing rockers to leather-dawning, sexed up heavy metal rockers. It worked immediately.
