To Lord Aidoneus

in hellenismos •  3 years ago

There in the darkness
Where souls wander in aimless glum
You sit upon your throne of bone
Lord over all that dies
And rests in your eternal realm

Son of Kronos
That Once-Lord of the starry heavens
By the hand of Zeus and his mighty siblings dethroned
Sent into the pits of Tartarus
Where you watch and imprison him

Husband of Persephone
That beautiful Goddess
Of the glowing skin, pale and soft
Like the petals of a flower
Or a garment of silk

God of riches
That from under the Earth do come
And for which men have often warred
Even as woman cry over their loss
Which in the end is your gain

Blessed Aidoneus
The unseen divinity so many fear
Who lingers around corners
Awaiting the time to strike
With Thanatos at your side

Lord Hades
Keeper of many secrets
Frightener of many
Enemy of none
Let us remember and honor you
