Hello (steemit) World

I'm not entirely sure who will be able to read this, considering I'm just jumping in. However, I did want to get started as quickly as possible, as I see Steemit as not only a form of social media, but also a way that I can document my progress into blockchain developing.

Background:

I've been interested in web development for years now. However, I've never really committed myself to learning as much as possible, considering the flux of the trends in development frameworks, as well as the volume of coders there were already available in the market. Self-taught means I've gotta prove what I learn, and I don't have many projects to show at this point.

Today:

I've started to realize that blockchain's importance is really in the chain itself, rather than the token it produces. I've been looking into what I can on my own, starting at reddits, and finding first page links on search engines. So far, I think I should be able to either learn Solidity for the Ethereum blockchain, or there is the option to learn C++, so I could work with both WebAssembly and the EOSIO.

I'm hoping to find others who know a bit more about coding for the blockchain, and would happen to have recommendations as to any resources there may be for self-teaching students. I'm open to all suggestions that hopefully don't involve plunking any currency down for "courses". However, beggars cannot be choosers, just please let me know why you think it would work, I'm stubborn.
