Prayer to the Lord for help: Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me. Psalm 43:3

The Psalm 43 is a prayer for help to the Lord, this is a psalm that teaches us to pray in times of difficulty; when we are in a situation of adversity and surrounded by enemies, when the way out of problems is not clear, it is when we most have to put our spiritual trust in the Lord, God is our personal savior, not be carried away by fear and the doubt, but instead be confident people, this is the spiritual teaching that the Psalm conveys to us.
This psalm was most likely written during the times of the oppression of the Assyrian and Babylonian empires. The glorious times of Kings David and Solomon had ended and only the memory of them remained. The covenant with God was in crisis, first the Northern Kingdom of Israel fell and then sixty years later the Kingdom of Judah was destroyed, the tyrants asserted their power in the Middle East through the terror and their strength; and because of the affliction before the oppression of their enemies, the psalmist on behalf of the chosen people asks for the beatitude and freedom to their God, the God of Israel.
This is how the psalm begins:
"Vindicate me, my God,
and plead my cause
against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me from those who are
deceitful and wicked" Psalm 43:1-2.
The chosen people had sinned and in the face of difficulties God did not free them from their oppressors. That is why the Psalmist requested God for his forgiveness and his mercy, God has a plan and the hope of those who trust in him is never lost:
"Send me your light and your faithful care,
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God" Psalm 43:3-4.
Hope tells us the Psalm is a very special virtue, those who know how to wait and do not despair in times of difficulty are the ones who are blessed in the end:
"Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God" Psalm 43:5.
