My first real life social project is ON. I decided to fund an event that is going to be run by Freddy (@freddy0274) and in which him, his family and friends will cook breakfast for 100 people and will go to a hospital to give it away there. He explained to me that most of the time the relatives that are making company to the hospitalized people, those usually are really struggling since medical treatment is very expensive.
Freddy has been very responsive and willing to help since I first talked to him. He told me that this opportunity is a blessing for him and his family, since they really care about the ones in need, and being able to help makes them really happy.
The plan is this. They are going to cook breakfast for 100 people. Arepas and Nestea. Arepas are a very typical meal from Venezuela and Colombia which is a kind of bread, usually filled with cheese, but it can be done with pretty much anything. Freddy is going to fill them with ham and cheese.
The hospital they picked to give the food away is the HULA (hospital universitario de los andes) and it is one of the main ones in the Venezuela. While giving everyone a hearty breakfast, Freddy and his friends will explain this is all happening thanks to a platform called Steemit, and the ones that show interest will be told a bit about it.
Most of the food has already been bought. Tomorrow Saturday Freddy´s mom is going to cook the Arepas, then Freddy and some friends will give them away on Sunday morning. He is going to take pictures of the hole process, from the cooking part to the hospital. There will be some banners around with Freddy´s username and mine to prove that the pictures are legit and that they document the event run by the two of us.
I do all this for two main reasons: First because helping others feels great, and last but not least, to demonstrate that the Blockchain gives us endless possibilities, there is room for anything and everything is done in a transparent way. Its up to us the use we give it, but I think that now we have THE tool to make the world a friendlier place.
