ADVICE FROM PAPA – VIDEO 13 – Tips For Newer Users on Steemit

in help •  8 years ago

Hopefully, this will help you understand.

Exactly what steemit is and how it works can be difficult enough to understand without adding questions like "Where does the money come from?" In this video @papa-pepper attempts to share some thoughts about blockchains, currency, minnows, whales, dolphins, curation rewards, voting bots, SBD, and a few other things pertaining to steemit.

VIDEO 13 – TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT STEEMIT IS AND HOW IT WORKS

Obviously, this video is not exhaustive, nor am I an expert on this subject. I am just trying to share my understanding of this subject in a way that helps newer understand it better. I see that @soundlegion already checked it out with some friends and enjoyed it, so I hope that others will too.

Part of my goal in this video was to answer a recent question from @louiscpt.

HI Papa one thing that i would like to know is why some posts that have less activity earn more than some with more activity .I actually put a post out and no one even gave any feed back .

Hopefully I accurately answered that question in an understandable way.

Until next time…

Still new to all of this ... I'm glad i stumbled a pond video, it was from a #Resteem. (need to learn more about that one ) I will diffidently go threw the rest of the videos you have made !!!

Just want to say ...

Interesting. Glad to hear it!

Ok it was @daveks whom had #Resteem it. And that is how I had found you. And you can see all the way to your 1st post of your video series, am now caught up.

Great explanation on some topics that I had questions about, it is also very helpful to get the perspective from 7 months ago... I was referred to your video by @sighmanjestah who said you were one of the "wisened steemers" that helped him at one time when he was small. I think that was a good thing to do for him.

Its also awesome that you did so well here that you have been able to have your life situation changed. I can only imagine how well you are doing now, 7 months later. Congrats on that and I agree on your point on being debt free (keep the shackles off and be free).

Thanks for posting this and I will refer people to it... I would suggest you repost it though for all the many people that have never seen it (like me)... And if you don't want to repost it, would you mind if I take a screen shot of video and link to this in my own post? I certainly don't want to take proprietary property of yours and use it without permission, so that is why I'm asking... Of course I realize that it would be far more valuable to the community if you re-posted it yourself because you already have a following, plus people like me could then resteem it.

Its up to you of course and I thank you again for what you have done for the community. You have made an impression on @sighmanjestah and he has made an impression on me. That is how a community is created and I am happy to be connected to you even if its just in a small way.

Cheers and happy 2018! :)

You continuously posting marvelous tutorial videos. Really amazing. Upvoted already :)

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for making these videos. I admit having only been here for 4 days it all seems a bit bewildering to me. You help clarify things, hopefully it will make sense to me soon 😜

Good, just keep at it and keep learning. That is what I did!

Hey uh @papa-pepper you may not want to check out my last job I stole. It is kind of a tell-all about "the musical group we pretend to not remember."

Very useful information..

Someone had a great imagination to dream this up. Your videos are great but I'm new and still confused. If you are trying to make money (which isn't my primary incentive) why would you want steem power? If you have a lot of steem power doesn't that mainly benefit the author? And what happens when you redeem rewards? Does that convert steem to SBD? Sorry for all the questions but it's confusing. Thanks.

No matter what, at least half your payout will be in STEEM Power. Steem Power gives you more curation rewards when you upvote. You can power down Steem Power which turns it into STEEM, and then cash out the STEEM.

When you say cash out you mean the same as redeem rewards? And that converts you over to SBD which you can then convert to USDs, bitcoin, etc..?? As long as you keep steam or SBDs you will benefit if steem appreciates correct?

Both STEEM and SBD can be moved to a wallet on a trading platform (like bittrex) and converted to BTC, which can be sold for USD, etc.

Both STEEM and SBD can fluctuate in value, and could become more valuable as time goes on and as the site grows.

Awesome! It's starting to make some sense now. Thanks much.

Thanks for very informative videos @papa-pepper. I was wondering do you know ho created Steemit at the start? Who owns the software and hardware behind everything?

That would be a question for @dantheman or @ned.

Thanks will contact them.
