-HELLO EVERYONE! We have until June 29th to submit a public comment for Pebble Mine. If you do not know what Pebble Mine is, well, it is projected to be one of the largest copper and gold mines in the world, in Bristol Bay, one of the most pristine places in the world.
-They say that it will be good for the economy by creating jobs, providing tax revenue for the state and reducing American dependency on foreign sources of raw materials, but they fail to mention that it will disrupt one of the most pristine water sheds in the world, which will hurt and or diminish the best salmon run the Earth has left.
-They want to impound large amounts of water, waste rock and mine tailings behind several dams at the mine site. People up there already have great jobs in the commercial fishing sector, and many people live off the land and use the fish for sustenance. Not only do humans depend on this watershed but moose, caribou and salmon depend on it too.
-If you think your opinion doesn't matter, it does!!! Anyone can submit a comment. You do not have to live in Alaska to submit it, so please just take 5 minutes out of your day and go to https://pebbleprojecteis.com/publiccomments/new to submit your comment. I clicked on the NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) category, but you can submit various comments in other categories if you please.
"If something so pristine isn't worth protecting, then what is?"
