hi there - don't worry your not alone - first go and introduceyourself - lots of help can be found there - and read the steemit white paper

when you write a post the tags at the bottom will be what category your post will end up in - see tags and topics to the right - look at what is hot - and what is trending and get a feel for what you want to write/say/share

try to always put a picture with your words - you can do this by linking said picture - as for voting - well thats an art in itself - look to google there are a few articles written about steem

steem has its own currency - you get these by upvoting people - i am new as well so can't really tell you more ...but explore others will be willing to help you
